Ventrac Mower or Steiner?

Whatever it is, it is no matter anymore. The very first guess was right, it is a mouse house with ROPs covered with a tarp. You can call it whatever, Kubota, JD, messy, Boeing, Condor or Sherman, but the Mouse house is Mouse house, no more and no less.

Dang! All good guesses! I appreciate the effort! STILL COLD 😂

I was asked to check on a near derelict property after Helene. Owners have been deceased 10+ years. The only son now elderly lives 2 states away, it belongs to his uncle, also deceased. They were all close friends of the family.

I haven't been on the property in years until this week. Someone is being paid to keep it mowed, but the mostly decayed tractor shed is well out of sight. So it's complicated. It's just breaks your heart to see something like this. Literally worth a few thousand if running, and possibly been sitting for 10 years.
I know your calling it a barn find but I don't think it officially qualifies as such unless you get to keep it.

You ready to throw out a brand and approx. year yet to narrow it down. I have one guess but it would be worth more than a few thousand and the rollbar would be an add on and never would have come with one originally. Or the grill guard.

100% sure I'm wrong.

What would really be looking at, diving to the abyss of the unknown. I'm sure owner kept it serviced when running. But to start from scratch for a unit like this sitting for 10 years, where would you start?

At its present location? Check air filter for mice debris. Replace if needed. Bring a battery and start it up. Air up tires if needed load on trailer. Take home remove every panel and do a complete cleaning and inspection. Purchase the maintenance kit from JD and any other filters not included and do a complete filter and fluid change. Then enjoy your purchase. That would be a fun project.

My guess wasn't even remotely close.

One more guess and I’ve would have had it.
As far as getting it going I think it will be better than you think mechanically. Get the old fuel out, fresh fluids and try and crank it without starting it to get the oil moving. My biggest concern would be mouse damage to the wiring.

Did you buy it? or is the owner interested in getting it going again?

Change all fluids, grease everything, change the filters, blow out the fuel lines, put a new battery in it and see what happens.
