Tractor
JD 420, Kubota 2900
My Deere garden 420 is dead. Use it to mow and throw snow. Thinking of selling my Kubota with 660 Deere tiller and getting 'large' Kubota garden tractor with front loader, deck and tiller. So, smaller machine ,but not two machines.
I bought the Kubota new 9 years ago to work a new house set of projects (slit seeding,rock/dirt ,trees, lake project, etc.) most of that is done. Only about 100 hours on it. New condition..but, nine years old.
Thoughts???
Can I get a good price,,,? Where?

thanks for your advice.

Dealer suggested a John Deere 2520,,,new. Trade my 150 hour (nine year old,but new) Kubota 2900 with Deere 660 tiller and front loader for new Deere 2520 with belly mower and front end loader (for snow and other stuff). Forget the snow blower. He would take my dead 420 with 60" deck and 50+ inch blower ,also. I would have one machine, but loose my tiller, and push the snow.
Any experience with the 2520?

Mow about 5 acres, move 200+ feet of driveway snow. Wife has 1200 sq ft garden to till. Although the 660 tiller is too big for the garden ,it does the job very effectively. I think the total costs of adding all of the accessories (loader, tiller, snow blower and tiller) will break the bank. Also, been thinking about chipper for my 2900....Don't know if the 2520 can handle larger branches....logs??

I'm in my confusion mode,,,, so, excuse me,,,,but, thoughts /advice accepted.
Sincerely,

JD 2520 is nice, but for same money you could get a Kubota B2920, and you gain three speed transaxle. B2920 with FEL and 60' mmm is around $18,000

There are a lot of folks looking for tractors such as yours. One owner. Super low hours and cared for. The market for such tractors is very strong. I assume you will sell outright on Craigs or some listing, and avoid taking a trade in hit on it?

I would not trade it in. If you sell it yourself you will have extra money to put towards the tiller or the snowblower. When I switched tractors I sold the one I owned and got $1500 more then the best dealer offered in trade. On the other hand the trade is surely convenient and selling tractor can be a bit of a hassle.
I think the Deere 2520 is a nice machine but I would follow the advice of looking at a Kubota B2620 or a B2920 as well. They are also very nice and they are covered with "cheaper paint".

ps: I have 1800 sq ft garden and my walk-behind tiller runs about two hours per year. Would I love a PTO tiller? Oh yes. But that would run much less and would be extremely hard to justify.
