Gun Rack 5525 Cab - I want to add a gun rack to my new 5525 cab tractor. I have missed out a number of shots on coyotes while mowing. I am thinking I can fabricate one off the monitor mount on the rigth front of the cab. Does anybody know the threads of that mount? Does anybody else have a gun rack on their tractor? I want one on my 4720 also, but I can not find a good spot.

Thanks,
D.

Now that will make a bit of noise when that gun goes off inside that cab. /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif /forums/images/graemlins/tongue.gif /forums/images/graemlins/tongue.gif

Look at the ATV or pickup sites, as they may have something. Cabella's may also have something that will work well for you.

There has been several times that I have chosen my older (4 post rops-no cab) MF 1130 over my new MF 491 cab to bushhog for the simple reason its a better gun platform! /forums/images/graemlins/cool.gif On the 1130, I asked my wife to sew a camo covered foam pad which I attached to the floor and left rear rops beam. One bungie cord holds the gun tight in the upright position. I can reach back and retrieve the rifle with my L hand while I drive with my R. Scope lens covers are necessary on an open station tractor! Never change the tone (speed) of your motor - just clutch and slow to a stop - or Mr Yote will get very nervous! My 491 only has a L side door /forums/images/graemlins/confused.gif so I haven't worked out a good shootin plan yet. I wonder if one of the atv mounts(the type that clamps the rifle firmly) mounted vertical (gun butt on or almost touching floor) to your rops might work. If ya figger out a good way to shoot out of the glass cab with out scaring the yote first let me know! /forums/images/graemlins/laugh.gif

How about a rotating turret on the roof? /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Whats even more fun is shootin field rats with # 8 shot from a Ruger Blackhawk 44mag. When you can hit a running rat from a moving tractor (within the efective range of a 44 mag shot load < 15 yards) u b good /forums/images/graemlins/wink.gif. A roof mount - naw it would always be in the way of tree limbs. Now a belt fed 30 thru the grill would be handy during deer season.

Well, I did get a couple snakes this weekend while cleaning out the barn. The ole barn on our place is going to make it and go back into service. Who knows how long it has been there. The 4720 and gator did a great job along with my handy Winchester 1300 Defender.

I spent a number of hours in my 5525 this weekend and I think I have it figured out. I can fabricate a mount with some velcro straps to the monitor mount in the right front part of the cab. I will post pics when I get it done. I have to figure out the threads first.

Too many projects: barn, fences, gun rack. I need a vacation to get caught up!

Been pondering the same for my 5203 for rifle. Jake the snake (rattle type) is my main target of opportunity. Have a Ruger New Vaquero in .45 Colt with snake loads carried in a cross draw weak side--awesome on the rat population too!! /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gifI guess a benefit of an open station is that clear field of fire.
