Nice set up, but I think that sling is going to cause you problems if you drive through a wooded area. Looks pretty easy to be snagged by low hanging branches.
You might want to consider an SKS rather then an AK type rifle. You'd still have an 11 or 12 round capacity and not have to maneuver around that banana magazine.

I couldn't see any type of retention device in the pictures. Is there any holding the rifle in the rack, other then gravity?

The mounts come with rubber straps that secure the gun into the "v". If I am cutting in an area where I am constantly having to duck to avoid limbs, I will probably remove the rifle to avoid a chance of a limb knocking the gun out of the mount.

Look at the Tarus Judge, Really nice pistol, it shoots 45 long colt and 410 shells. Load up a few of each and you should be able to stop anything except maybe a Griz. They even make a 410 shell just for the Judge called the Shredder. It has about a half a dozen disks in it .410 x about 3/16 thick, sort of like flat buckshot. Very wicked.

Have you see the Rossi circuit judge (carbine). (45 colt and 410)
I have not put my hands on one but the pictures and video are great.
I think it would be a great tractor firearm

Yeah , That is my concern, I do have my 22 single action pistol handy and I am sure one shot in the head with a 2 long rifle bullet would dispatch him.

However, I am not sure even in 6 tries with the adrenline pumping that I could no anything but make him mad.

The 22 is the only thing I will carry with me in my aluminum boat I figure I can problably get back to the landing with 6 - 22 bullet holes in the bottom but not sure if I went with a higher caliber.

I know when a water snake decided to join me in my boat it was not a pretty sight and I knew he was non poisinous !!

That happened to a friend of mine, years ago.
But when the snake crawled in, he jumped out and swam to shore.
He decided that if the snake wanted the boat, then he could have it. :laughing:

Very nice, but pricey. I've been wishing I would inherit some money to buy one of those.

If you had shot at that water snake with one of those, you would've been bailing water out of your boat with your coffee cup, hoping to make it to shore in time. :laughing:
