I have looked into gun safes a lot and there is definitely a lot of quality issues with several brands. Here is what a lot of it boils down to.
1. How much do you really want to spend to keep things safe and how much are your valuables worth? No need to spend 10 grand on a safe to keep 1000 dollars worth of items safe, but the reverse is also an issue, a 1000 dollar safe is not good at keeping 50K safe.
2. You really get what you pay for and you are best off getting a safe that is made by a company that makes high end safes for a living, you get a lot of trickle down technology.
3. most gun safes are not UL rated beyond RSC (residential security container.) and a lot are not rated at all.
4. If you really want to learn about safes, you can read a TON over at
THR - Powered by vBulletin Just do a search over there. There are a couple of people over there that do safes as a livelihood. They do like some that they sell, but from my research, what they say holds true from other sources.
5. From all of my research I like the amsec safes the best in the BF series, they offer a lot of bang for the buck.

I would love to get the HS series, but I don't have a good place to put a safe that heavy.
Other safes that are rated good are Graffunder and some of the Fort Knox.
Here is a video of people breaking into a cheaper safe in a couple of min, if you look you can also find other ones that people break in with a fire axe.

Hopefully I have given some food for thought. (oh I should mention I am not affiliated with any safe companies or anyone/anything having to do with safes.)
