Hey DrDan,
The 5th circuit ruled for the 2nd ammendment in Emerson, although it's just dicta and they sort of ruled against Emerson. Still, given that and the fact that even I now own a Glock 22, there's still hope even if this actually passes.
Todd
By the way, I think only the Barrett cost over 3K, there are several for less so you can affort to buy the $2.50 each rounds. In case you wanted you get yourself a .50. Probably great for shark hunting.

I'm with you Frank - gets your blood boiling. I think after 911 a lot of these jerks will bite the dust in the next election. <<I hope>>. I was asked by the local sheriff 5 years ago to prosecute 5 druggey punks who broke into my house in search of drugs (I'm a veterinarian). Got a bottle of euthanasia solution and some antibiotics LOL. Anyhow, several of them skipped bond and some were sent to prison for other crimes. To make a long story short, I never had to go to court, but...

One of the guys probation officer told me to be extremely careful since he had been known to be involved in violent crime with firearms. I talked to the sheriff and said hey listen man, here I am in a wheelchair with little ability to flee if these punks come after me for prosecuting and your response time if I call you is 20 minutes or more... What am I supposed to do? Even though there is no concealed carry provision in our state, sheriff told me to carry. Said he would look the other way. I did for several years and now have a German Shepherd that is my guard. Fact remains that in this world you "HAVE" to have a firearm for self defense if you care to continue living. The law enforcement officers are over worked and can't respond to every situation... As long as there are criminals willing to use deadly force your only protection is deadly force. It is an absolute laugh if these stupid impractical politicians think a law will keep guns out of the hands of criminals or terrorists. 911 proved that we are extremely vulnerable - like it or not! More laws doing any good in gun related deaths are kind of likened to the "war on drugs" helping that situation. As long as people have no deterrant to killing others they will continue. This bullchit permissive, litigous social order in Washington has ruled out any authority of teachers in schools. Kids aren't taught at home cuz both mom and dad are both working trying to make a living and the teachers have to take whatever the kids feed them because of the "regulations" society have imposed on them.

We all know the answer... Write letters, make calls and vote these jerks out of office. I believe Bush is a breath of fresh air. Seems to be a moral man with no fear of stepping on toes to express what he believes to be right. Thank god --The past 8 years of utter disrespect for the fundamentals of morality has dealt us a low blow that will need a strong leader to pull us out of. We need leadership that leads by example not a bunch of lies. I think we need to help ourselves by passing on that "leadership by example ethic" to our own family and circle of friends. Unfortunately, there will always be those with no regard for other human life and that's why we need a good old "hog leg" up in the cupboard. I believe there are many like me who will only give up their guns when they are pried out of their cold claw. More bullcrap laws by politicians with an agenda will only drive the gun trade underground like the drug trade.

We have so many laws on the books now that noone can understand them - what good are anymore without enforcement? Look what happened in Australia. Banned guns and violent crime increased... Gheesh get a brain Mr. Lawmaker or if you can't do that - go on out and play a few more rounds of golf - at least that won't hurt us peasants.

My parents live in Florida where not too long ago they allowed people to carry guns. Crime rate dropped a lot from what I understand.
