LOL, back (many years) as a teen I DIY'd a plywood plow that I hooked onto my VW Beetle bumper.
Rope and hockey stick to lift the blade, bed angle for cutting edge and good to go.

Actually worked quite well and sure beat using the old wooden snow shovels of the day.

Either I was an early DIY type or just lazy.

Maybe the "Palets in the field" was a design for a snowplow.

I feel an urge to do something similar as I woke up this morning to find a pretty solid 3 inches of snow covering most everything here in Northern Alabama ......and I'm not exactly happy about it.

If it's still there tomorrow, I'm thinking it will be getting pushed off the driveway :smiley_aafz:-- even if it takes longer to get the tractor out and warmed up than it will to move the snow with the tractor..... :mur:

..and if I do end up doing that it'll be the first time I've used a tractor for snow removal since moving to Alabama ~14 years ago (snow usually doesn't last the day when it falls around here, but this one just may). View attachment 686894

:D

Up here we wouldn't even mess with that little bit of snow. Down your way it will warm to the 50's and 60's in a couple of days and the snow will pretty much be gone. It sounds like it will be above freezing here in a couple of days for the first time in what seems like a month.

Save money on duct tape and don't plow at all. Eventually it all melts so why are you wasting fuel plowing?

You need to learn from the big boys. Texas privatized their electrical system and they stopped wasting money on things like maintenance and infrastructure. Free market rules ensures maximum ROI.

Is your snow melting? It looks like your temps should be pushing 50. Hope you didn't waste your time plowing. We may get above freezing next week.

Still a few small patches left that the rain last night/this morning haven't yet melted ...longest I've seen snow stick around in the 14 years I've been living in Alabama. My driveway was mostly melted by Friday, the driveway for the church next door is just starting to clear this morning.... was a bit frustrating as growing up in Minnesota my parent's typically had us keep relatively clean driveway - made for a lot of shoveling, and also instilled a bit of an OCD tendency not to let snow accumulate on driving surfaces (at least not anymore that 1/2 inch or so needed to keep from tearing up the dirt & gravel in the driveway).

Really the biggest concern here was the driveway clean enough for my fiancee (now wife) to safely get to my house (which she did without my needing to plow) as all of the snow came after getting a freezing rain on Monday. The rain left about a 1/4inch layer of ice on every thing and turned the roads into solid sheets of ice (had fun with that getting home last Monday).

Over all having the ice and snow cover made getting married Saturday a unique (for Alabama) and picturesque experience with the snow covering the ground and the ice making the tree tops look like shimmering crystal branches.....
