Hello Tractor Community!
This is my first time on this Web Site. I would appreciate any advise or feed back from members more expeirenced than myself. This is my story:
I recently retired on Social Security Disability and just purchased 16 Acres in Coldwater, Mississippi. My plan is to subsidize my income with some hobby farming. Maybe a few cows, some chickens and a crop or two. I plan to build my home on this property and would welcome any information from the Community that would help me avoid mistakes and save me money. I could use advise on the following:
1. A compact tractor that I can afford. A new one is out of my reach, so I'll probably have to settle on a used one (maybe an import) that can handle a mower, front end loader, tiller and maybe a back hoe.
2. Ideas on fencing.
3. Drilling a well.
4. Water tower.
5. Septic tanks.
6. Concrete slabs.
7. Irrigation
8. Pasture seed for grazing.
9. DIY small barn.
10. A used compact 4x4 pick-up truck
Since I am starting from scratch, I guess that's plenty for starters. I could go on, but I need to follow an itinerery that I can afford.
If anyone has additional ideas, please let me know.
Sincerely yours,
Jesse Martie
