Coobie, what part of Michigan are you from? I grew up in Croswell. Once every few years, my brother and I go back up there and hunt in Sanilac and last time we were there, we saw a monster like that, but he was on the other side of a peat bog and out of bow range by 100 yards ;-( Here in SC, our deer are generally much smaller both in body and rack size. My largest deer here is a 119" 10 pointer. Saw one bigger while hunting one time, but B&C bucks are not the norm here.

Well, I guess they grow 'em big in Jackson area. Have only been through there once that I can remember. Anyway, good luck this season. Hope you get that one!

The neighbor's game cam picked up a mamma black bear and two cubs a couple weeks ago. I don't need a game cam for deer; I have a herd of 6 in my front yard every day. I have the fountain running, and they think it's their drinking fountain. One of them is a buck, only showing 4 points now, but he is still in velvet, so his antlers may grow more.

Coobie, thanks for sharing! That's a nice one!

Very pale in comparison, but as I was coming home from working a night shift the other morning, walking around the rear of the house to the back door, 2 deer are munching on the apple trees in the back yard. About 25-30 yards away, spike in velvet, and doe, pay me no mind, was able to take a picture or 3, get my keys out and unlock the door, and they just kept enjoying my apples! Special moment for me, as I can count on one hand the times I've seen bucks of any size alive in velvet, in person, in my 40 years.

Good luck, should you meet that fine fellow again later this year!

I will be the odd man out and say it would be a shame to kill that magnificent animal. I think you already have your trophy in that photo.

I have done some meat hunting so I am not opposed to hunting. I just outgrew the desire to trophy hunt other than with a camera.

To each his own I guess.Deer are thick as thieves in southern Michigan.Thin out the herd IMHO reduces the car/deer accidents.Plus we eat venison more than we do beef/chicken/fish..

With a rack like that, he's probably a tough old 4-5 year old. A doe about 1-1/2 to 2-1/2 years old is MUCH better eating. Leave him be to sire many more big-rack descendants.
