I have an old hahn chain driven sunstrand rearend snowblower. The problem is it goes forward ok, but in reverse the chain starts to bunch up and binds, throwing the chain off the gear. The gears seem to be alined up with each other! Could the chain be sprung? thank you Dan

Dan,
Have you checked the chain to see if it is loose? Over time the chain will stretch and needs to be adjusted. Also you may have a chain tensioner that is broken and not keeping the chain tight.

LOL

Doug, thanks for the reply. In fact the chain was so loose that the chain tensioner could not take up all the slak. I took a couple links out. it seems to stay on the gears better when its a little loose. however like I said it stays on going foward but binds up going backwards. I think at onetime it bound up and sprung the chain Im going to try replacing whith a new one.
