Wife cuts both our hair (I used to go get mine done until wife showed me her pouty face that I was paying someone else when I could let her cut it and give her ..... hmmmm.... about 50% more than the gal at the Salon!)

Anyway, she's using what might be hair shears.... might be for paper. I don't know.

Bottom line, they need sharpened so I thought I'd just replace them with a new set. Had no idea the amount of choices out there!!

Anyone know specifics on these things? Like to get her a nice pair. I was presuming I'd end up looking at something with Swiss steel in it but it seems the Japanese pop up more often (and I'm not going to pay $1,000 for a unit!.... I might go up to $200)

Any thoughts??

My wife cuts my hair with a Wahl rechargeable unit. Has various attachments to get the length you want. I'm sure she paid less than $200.

My wife shows dogs as a hobby. The outfit in the link below are at most shows and they also sharpen clippers and shears. Their stuff is high quality. You can order on line.

No need to spend anywhere close to $200. My wife uses a Norelco rechargeable beard trimmer on me that came with at least 10 different attachments including the nose and ear trimmer.

Then the scissors were just a set that were highly rated off Amazon- maybe $20

Note the number of reviews and ratings- all highly rated with lots of reviews. No need to break the bank for something that you will only use 10-15 times a year!

We have a Wahl cordless model 9649 that works on my hair when it gets long enough to bother my wife :D

Wife cuts mine with something like the rechargeable Wahl. Has adjustable cutting height. I just set it at 2 mm, and she shears everything. Then I remove the adjustable part for her to trim around the edges and in my ears and nose. Last time I had a hair cut, they were $1. Must be a long time ago.

I cut my own hair using this: VS Sassoon | Crew Cut Hair Clipper | Shaver Shop Fortunately, I look good in a #2 or #3.

I also have a Wahl for my beard + a battery (AA) powered ear/nose hair trimmer.

For errant beard/moustache hairs I use a pair of scissors that were bought at the local Chemist... 'gold' handled ones seem to be the best quality.

I buzz-cut what I have left....

For scissors....try Mundial hair cutting scissors. Mundial makes scissors for about anything.

Bald is beautiful so they say...lol I have a little left on each side and my wife takes what little I have left off with her Oster Golden A5 horse trimmers. Do a nice job btw.

We have Oster horse trimmers and she is not coming near me with them, I use a generic set of rechargeable clippers with multiple heads for setting the trim, works for me and Mrs Bunyip does the back, usually a #2 in summer and #3 when it cools down.

After being married 35 years, I trust my wife 100%. She actually does a bang up job with them. They do get hot though.

My wife cut my hair with scissors for decades. I bought the scissors at one of the major drug stores, and they were sharp and smooth cutting. I think I only replaced them once in all that time. A few years ago I picked up a Wahl electric trimmer set at Menards and she's used that since. Saves a lot of time and gives a great cut.

After my uncle was sidelined by a heart attack quite a few years ago, my wife started cutting mine with clippers and scissors. My cousin is a barber, but lives in Nevada and recommended the Wahl trimmers we are using. There are different types of scissors and he said use what fit you, but they must be made for cutting hair and will have almost unnoticeable striations on the cutting edge to keep the hair from rolling out. We got ours off the Internet and don't remember the brand but I can ask him.

My Dad always made me cut his hair. I didn't have a clue what I was doing. But to him, the price was right.

Got tired of bad inconsistent hair cuts. Been using this for the last twenty years. I'm on my second one and they keep changing the design a bit but it seems to work as good as the original. My haircut comes out exactly the same every time. Wife trims the back with scissors and shaves my neck with the clipper on my Norelco electric shaver.

I got a flier in the mail from Blains Farm and Fleet announcing a grand opening this weekend of a new store nearby. They advertise several demo activities, one of which is Free Haircutting Demos put on by Wahl!

You can find plenty of nice hair scissors on eBay. The Japanese steel are good. Stay away from Chinesium.

You can also look for a Sally's or CosmoProf store near you. You can walk in off the street and buy from either place. You just don't get a discount without a cosmo license.

When it's time for a sharpening, either google it, or ask a local salon. There's a guy that visits my wife's salon once a month to sharpen items. There's also a cutlery store in another part of town that does all of the knives for butchers, steak houses, etc. They do clipper blades and hair scissors too. There's probably someone close that you just don't realize is there.
