Hairline crack in weld on Hydraulic reservoir PT 425

Pulled the lid off today. No gasket under the lid, must have deteriorated. Cleaned all the surfaces, very clean. Used Pro Seal RTV silicone gasket maker (red) for high temperatures. Also replaced all the bolts and washers with stainless steel ones. Looks good, so far!

Great news. The red was unnecessary (but I would have made that choice as well). Your oil tank doesn't get that hot if you can believe it, although my legs could say something otherwise.

mine was cracked in the same spot. Had my friend weld it up and works just fine

Late to the party, but ever since I bought it, my 425 has had a tiny oozing leak at one of the hydraulic tank seam welds. It's just enough for a film of oil to spread and attract dust. It's annoying, but not enough to drain the tank, clean clean clean and then clean some more so I can seal it up. I just give it a bath every few months whether it needs it or not.
