From your avatar it looks like your hog is hanging a little low in front. Are you scalping when the engine bogs down? On level ground, about the only thing that would cause it is either a heavier load on the mower or maybe soft ground that takes more work to move through.

Sorry it took so long to reply, computer/internet connection problems. Bush hog was set up by dealer. How should it look? Avatar shows bush hog set completely down flat as it can go. Yes, when mowing it does tend to look scalped. Any pointers/advice appreciated.

Sound Guy,

It appears those nuts you are referring to that tighten friction plate are behind metal sheeting that covers the lower front of tractor cab area, right below steering column. Cannot find reference to friction disc in my 6 volume, reference set for 30 series Ford tractors (naturally). Just thought I'd give you a heads up as I intend to head out to get 'er done!

Yes.. there will be 'cowling' in the way.. at least on 3 other ford/NH units I have/had it was this way.. though none were cab models..

So "cowling" is the term I did not know. Just used "cab area" to describe "cowling". Ok, so I'm on the right track. Thanks for response.

There will at least be cowling in the way.. you may have other items inthe way as well on a cab machine... I dunno.. I've never owned one.. I just either freeze or burn up.. (grin).. I'm too tight to come off the $$ to get a cab and ac!!

I don't anticipate any problems for you...
