Good looking pond that you have there. Really looking forward to seeing it with grass alla round it!!!!

Are you going to build a pier or float or something along the shoreline?

So we have been getting a LOT of rain lately, so the pond is now full and overflowing. I need to sit down with Lil the Backhoe and work a little on my overflow levels etc, now that I have that perfectly flat "water level" to work with (much easier than the transit)

About half dozen of the ducks from the back pond (mudhole) have decided that the front pond would be a pretty cool place to hang out. Not sure if it will hold water long term, but at this point I have a 40' X 90' or so pond about 16' deep. It will be interesting to see if it holds steady or if it drops and we need to line it or add some gypsum or bentonite to get it sealed.

Anyway, it is kind of cool, especially for me to watch the ducks fly back and forth between the two ponds, also looking forward to getting some grass going around it and neatening up the dirtwork and stabilizing it. Fire ring, pond, summer evenings and a bit of adult beverages.

Everything I do seems to take too long to get done, but it sure is nice to see things start to come together and match the image I have in my mind.

Very very nice. Great looking spot. Will the water get some shade from those trees?

Thanks Guys, both pictures are from the south side, the first from the Southwest corner, and the second from Southeast.

It is pretty much surrounded by trees.

I need to work on the ziplines next, but honestly, we have so much going on, and the firewood for next year is not cut, we are just probably going to have to keep thinking about it.

AlanB,
You just confirmed two things: A/ I may be under-equiped and B/ I do indeed need a pond.
Very tranquil looking. One H... of a big hole though!

Thank you.

Just a follow on, the pond seems to be holding real well. Not sure how it will be when the true heat of summer comes on. The good news is that other ponds in the area have dried back up, while Hanna's seems to be holding pretty stable at this point.

Things are starting to green up a bit, we will fertilize and seed when it gets a touch warmer and I still need to work a bit on the drainage issues but all in all, it is looking pretty good. I got the cabin roof replaced and looking at the siding options to make it look better and fit the picture that I have in my mind.

I think that one of those windmills with the bellows pump in it to pump air into the pond is on the horizon, but right now we are shifting towards completion of the greenhouse's

I think so, some ways it is hard to tell because we also removed a bunch of undergrowth, trees, scrub etc which was probably holding water as well. It will also be better as I can get the grass growing.

We were looking today, and there is water still running out of the top of it, through our "overflow" so all in all I am starting to suspect it may hold for the most part. I am sure it will be like some others in the area and fluctuate, but so far, fingers and toes crossed, it seems to be holding.

All in all, the wife seems happy enough with it, and that usually makes me happy.
