Happy nameday to me

In my country, we celebrate name days. For you, Americans, name day is a day named after a saint in Catholic calendar, every country has different calendar.

Like for instance the 7th of March is Thomas, 24th December is Adam and Eve and so on.

My name day is on the 4th of July and America very nicely celebrates it with lot of fireworks

Anyway, for my nameday the little woman did the research and bought me replacement for my chainsaw that recently died:

Happy name day! My Polish friend told me that name day is more celebrated than birth day, back home.

In my country it is like 50% of a birthday and thats how we do it with our kids. Originally it was the celebration of the saint who is your protector and in old days you got your name by the day you were born - would be Robert for me for instance.
Still names are very interesting; we had to pick up names acceptable for czech and for americans too - I always liked the name Ignac - Ignatius - but for my wife it was out of question. Brings thoughts of Major Major Major Major - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
