Take a hard look at the Massey Ferguson 4707. I looked at the 4.75, the Case 75c, and the Massey Ferguson 4707 is a far superior machine. I love mine.View attachment 588767

I have, and it definitely is a nice Tractor. As far as it being a far superior machine, in weight, yes, but I can always add weight. The adjustable power shuttle is nice, as is the declutch on the shifter, but honestly for my needs they are nothing more than trinkets.

Don't get me wrong, I was all but convinced and willing to travel a great distance to make a deal on a MF 4707 as my local Massey dealer had proved to be a joke in the past, not only in pricing, but the way I was treated, which was less than desirable to say the least. I liked the 4707 so much, that a road trip to get one was going to happen.

With that said, my wife and I decided to take one more look at the MF 4707 and give it another quick test drive. I was hopeful I could negotiate a deal locally, but if not, and before putting forth the effort to head out of state to make a deal on one, I at least wanted to confirm that it's the tractor I really wanted, so that's what I did.

The test drive went well, so we sat down with the dealer to talk numbers again, and that's where me purchasing one locally went right out the window quickly. Not only weren't they coming off their original quote, but they doubled down sighting that the price was going up for 2019, and thus raised the price on the 2018 I was trying to make a deal on... That was the final straw for me, I wouldn't buy anything from them if it was the last tractor on mother earth....

I had looked at a Powerstar75 last spring, in fact it was the first utility tractor I looked at, but admittedly after asking the dealer the price, I didn't spend a lot time looking at it. Again, it was my first stop, and I had no intention of spending that kind of money, so it was quickly discounted.

I have a large multiple location New Holland dealership in my back yard, one location only 15 minutes, and the other 20 minutes from my home. So after the Massey dealer experience on the way home my wife suggested I give the NH another look.

We arrived at the dealership and they had a Powerstar75 on hand and available for us to test drive. What happened next I didn't see coming, I actually really liked the New Holland, in fact for whatever reason I started to think I liked it better. This couldn't be, I had Massey on my brain, and there was only one cure for that, and it was red.

My wife instantly preferred the cab on the NH, primarily the buddy seat, the hand rail for the door on the MF apparently pushed into her side, something I didn't notice or pay any attention to, both of them are somewhat uncomfortable for me due to my size, the MF might have a couple more inches of foot room, but I can just squeeze into both.

I didn't talk any numbers with the dealer, just thanked them for letting me drive the tractor, and told them I might be back. I wanted to take some time and make certain what I was feeling wasn't just because of my experience at MF dealer earlier in the day.

I went back by myself a couple of weeks later to give the NH another look, I wanted to spend a little more time operating it, and reevaluate my gut feeling. I also brought a checklist of things I really liked, and didn't like about the MF with me, along with one for the NH. Well, needless to say, after operating it for about 30 minutes, I came to the conclusion that I would be more than happy with the NH. It hit all of the marks with regards to necessity, and over achieved in a few other categories. I then came to the conclusion that if the numbers made sense, I was likely going to pull the trigger on a blue tractor.

I will say, the dealership experience was night and day difference, even though I tend to do all of the maintenance on everything I own, to me this adds value regardless.

I guess that's one way to look at it... lol

I was thinking about a Massey for my next tractor, but I just can't get past the china part!! Also It looks like the quality control could be better too, and the china part shines through in that respect...

SR
I actually think the build quality of the Massey is top notch. Fit and finish is excellent. The assembly plant in China is owned by, and most importantly operated and managed by, AGCO. This is entirely different than a third party building tractors for a company like John Deere and Case/NH do. AGCO spent $300 million on this state of the art plant to build the Global Series tractor.

A bad dealer experience can be a game changer. In my area, we have excellent dealers of several brands, which is very nice. I also looked at Case/NH pretty hard. I liked alot of things about them. I'm sure your Powerstar will serve you well.

Thank you, I appreciate it... I just couldn't pass it up, they made me an offer I couldn't refuse, probably about the best deal I've seen posted online anyway, and I liked the Powerstar75 enough that it was a no brainer.

I also liked the Powerstar and the 0% interest. It was tempting. My Massey dealer was able to lower the price below Case/NH...otherwise I'd probably be a Case owner. All excellent machines

The New Holland dealer gave me what he called an "all in pin" from New Holland, which was 20% off, and then they sharpened their pencil even more at the dealership. They also thru in loaded tires, and a live/true 3rd function including installation. It was a pretty good deal in my opinion...

Nice. I bought my Massey 4707 for $45200 with self leveling loader. Pivoting front fenders, air seat, fender mounted 3 point controls, Vizio Roof, stereo, and 3rd function remote. It was 28% off MSRP. AGCO financing was 3.9%.

The deal I was offered on a Case 75c was $46200 with all similar equipment except self leveling loader, which would have been additional $1800. Case did have 0% for 84 months, which was tempting. The one thing I really like better on the Massey is the transmission. I like the 6x2 better than Case/NH 4x3. It is also exceptionally smooth.

I just couldn't pass up the deal I was offered on the New Holland, especially considering it was plenty of tractor for my needs, and as a bonus, I really like the cab configuration. I am paying $39,500.00. and they are adding a 3rd function, and rimguard loaded tires to sweetin the deal a little more.

I chose one with the standard loader, power shuttle, air ride seat, liftomatic plus, and monitor bracket. I could have opted for one with the visibility panel in the roof, and self leveling loader, but with the type of loader work I'll be doing, neither of those options are necessary, and with the high roofline that has a curve to it, visibility is great regardless.

This was a cash deal, so no financing, which I am sure helped with the pricing. This is also why the local Massey dealer aggravated me. I was able to find the 4707 cheaper with financing out of state, than what the local clowns were offering me on a cash deal. This just didn't set well with me...
