You might have better luck finding an experienced owner at the Harbor Freight forum of Welding Web
Harbor Freight
or by clicking on the Customer Reviews in the Harbor Freight web site.

Let me know if I can answer any questions about the Everlast.

I don't buy stuff at Harbor Freight that can kill me like grinding disk that kind of stuff.

Do you think HF is going to leave bad reviews on their site?

Have you ever looked at the reviews at the Harbor Freight web site? I have and they do.
For the record, I weld with a Lincoln tombstone.

The only thing about the HF site reviews is that the default sort is highest ratings first. You need to reverse the sort change it to newest to get a fair mix.

I think the only thing that HF welder has going for it is that you have credit at HF. If you can use your credit on something else useful try making an offer on that Everlast 140 which includes a TIG rig. A little more power and dual voltage is a big deal in that range. If you have a machine that will burn 1/8" rod well it opens up a lot more possibilities compared to your 70 amp box.

To answer a question in your original post, I would not store it in an open shed. Its plenty small to bring in and keep in a closet along with your auto-dark helmet, gloves, and welding jacket.

I usually go straight to the negative reviews when I want considering a Harbor Freight product.

I read the reviews and some times/often, but not always, the negatives are from people who are using them wrong. Sand blasters clogging when using Home Depot play sand, DC TiGs that wont weld aluminium, or the dont like the accessories/consumables; HF uses crap blades and crap mig wire, and over priced crap electrodes; 5# of 6011 3/32 in a water proof case was cheaper at TSC then 2# at HF....

The air chisel works great but the chisels are a soft steel and blunt pretty easily

Paulharvey, do you have family members with shares in Harbor Freight? You've got some real good advice and better options yet you seem to be stuck the HF machine?

No. Im keeping several options open, include that one at Harbor Freight; I emailed a local guy selling an 225 Amp AC only Lincoln, if hes under $100 I just might give the dinosaur a try; watching an everlast 140 on ebay. Ive pretty much roled out the Longevity, looking at their warranty, they seem convinced it won't last 2 years. Basically i would like the idea of one day trying Tig but I won't be setting that up right away; ive been reading how nice DC is to weld with and I unsure if AC with more balls would solve my limitations. Ive got a guy at work telling me to get a Hobart 140 Mig but I dont think I would like wire; used a friends flux core (hobart I think) years ago and liked stick better. The Lincoln seems like a pain to drag to my power (85 ft from shed). Lets just say I was about 5 minutes frim getting the HF, but ive gone back to research stage for now. Ive even considered looking into a fan and better stinger and a 30 amp plug for my existing one...
