Harbor Freight introduces a full line of new welders

With Harbor Freight trying to sell higher end equipment it doesn't seem like Harbor Freight anymore. Makes me kind of sad.

They have been successful simply because of price. I wonder what will happen if they decide to sell "quality"? we've heard them yap about quality before, but we all know it's just HP hype, with the exception of a few things.

I usually buy from HF because their price and quality kind of balance out to fit my requirements. If they go high end, I'll probably look elsewhere.

Who says the new welders are higher quality? Just because they have a more rugged look doesn't make them better. I have no problem with buying a number of things from them but I'm careful to not buy things that may need repair parts. I pretty much assume that what I'm buying is throw away. If it does the job I need and is still functional then I've won the game of Harbor Freight. As for these welders, I'll wait until plenty of others have owned them for a number of years first.

Right or wrong, I made it a rule not to buy electrical tools from HF. To many things have failed for too many reasons. I'm tired of feeling ripped off or hoping I got a nice new tool and finding out it's junk.
<snip>
That's been my general rule also, however I bought their 29 gallon 2 HP 150 PSI Cast Iron Vertical Air Compressor after reading A LOT of reviews and finding the critical things like change oil BEFORE USING.

The only electrical thing I TRUST from HF is their free flashlights. I've so many of the 9 LED ones my son thought I was getting them free from work, and now I've also got about a dozen of the "27 LED blue oval".

BUT, they don't use every ones "build quality" or quality control!!

Yup, you need to open it in the store or be ready to return it immediately.

Their red tool chests, if not damaged in shipment are a real bargain for storing their free screwdrivers.

And those welders don't look like a great discount off say an Everlast or a refurbed Hobart.

Especially when compared to my EVERLAST PowerArc300 300A IGBT ARC Stick Welder for $270 (thanks again ShieldArc :) )
