Harbor Freight Tools that don't suck

So I bought the Banks roofing nailer a while back, did a couple small roofs about 6 squares total. This little gun worked without flaw from start to finish, worth the price. I got it with a 25% discount so it was like 99 bucks or something!

No, Lithium doesn't have that issue. However, they don't like sitting unused for extended periods, especially if they are completely full or almost empty of charge. If you are going to be storing them for a while, try to leave lithium batteries roughly half charged.

Knock on wood; I bought an Hitachi 14.4V Li impact driver in 2008 with two batteries. It has been used hard and put up wet so to speak and the batteries are still going fairly strong. I kind of feel like the batteries may not go quite as long as they did when new but power wise they are fine. I wish all of my Ni-Cads from the past went half that distance.

Having had Milwaukee, Dewalt, Porter Cable, etc. in the past, I am ready but undecided as to which way to go for much needed replacements. I bought a Bauer drill to try out maybe a month ago. Eh, it's kind of crude so I think it will be an orphan.

I have a bunch of the 18v Li-ion Hitachi drills and 1/4" drive impacts and love them. They don't offer quite as many tools as some other brands but I find the batteries affordable and last really well.

I've dropped one of the 1/4 impact driver from 14ft+ onto packed gravel and it survived so they seem to hold up well.

I recently bought the HF Daytona 3 Ton Low Profile Super Duty Floor Jack. I needed something with higher lift and larger weight capacity for working on my Dodge M37 Truck (antique military 3/4 ton pickup). The 2 ton floor jack I won as a door prize at a fire department fund raiser decades ago just wasn't cutting it.

I have not used it a lot yet, but it's working great so far. My only complaint was that the hydraulic oil was not filled to the proper level. This required a half-hour drive trip to the nearest HF store to get the proper oil. A hat-tip to the manager of the S. Burlington, VT store, who gave me the bottle of jack oil for free when I explained the problem (I also explained that I had ordered it online, not through his store, but he still insisted on giving me the oil.)

I was debating between this model and the 3 Ton Long Reach Low Profile Floor Jack, which has about an inch higher lift height. I finally decided I wanted the 3 year warranty of the Super-Duty Jack (vs 90 days for the Low-Profile Long-Reach Jack) more than I needed the extra inch of lift, so I went with the Super-duty version.

Not sure but didn't HF get sued by Snap-On (I think) over those jacks? Didn't they (Snap-On or whomever) sue because it was an almost exact copy for hundreds less? May get one myself when my present one peters out.

Whoever sued, obviously lost.

I do know my Icon 1/2" drive clicker torque wrench is a mirror image of my Snap-On clicker, except it don't have a Snap-On logo and the torque indication lines aren't in black oxide. Other than that and the price ($400.00 less), it's identical. It's a bargain for just over 100 bucks.

I read somewhere that HF hired a welder designer away from Lincoln and soon sold a clone that was so close that this generated a lawsuit, too.

Sort of reminds me of the Kubota Kioti lawsuit. Kubota got miffed over the orange color. Not sure where that one went either. Koubta has a unique paint scheme, only orange tractor that fades to Mary Kay pink.....
