No, the 'avoided' was real. Early postwar Japanese imports were nothing special. This tin toy is typical of what I remember as a kid. At the time an American toy boat might be made from thin mahogany, much better quality.

I think Honda mopeds then motorcycles, and Sony electronics, were the first top-quality Japanese exports but that was a decade later than their postwar reconstruction era.

Yes and if you tore it apart, you most likely would find it was made from beer and pop cans from the US with the writing still on them.

But at least the Beer/Pop/Soda cans were heavier Alumuinum! I think they were even steel, back in the day:laughing: ~Scotty

What are your thoughts on the HF 41" "General" Red tool box...seems like a good value and very comparable to much more expensive Craftsman boxes...especially when on sale...as it is often.

I want a very good 41"...your thoughts? TMR

P.S. Better value out there?

13 Drawer Red Industrial Quality Roller Cabinet

This should get you there...if not part number is 90320...TMR

This box is actually a very good value for it's price. If you want to read what a lot of guys say about it and that actually own it, check this thread out. I just wish I would have jumped on it when you were able to get it for $271 :(

I just had a good experience with a HF 'air nailer stapler' that I bought a few years ago, using it to staple barbed wire on a wood panel to hog proof my farm gates. Not a single jam, and sometimes the barbed wire was wider than the staple. These pigs can and will destroy anything they can. The part # on mine is 40116, but I think they changed it to 97524. It's on sale now for $19.99, which is what I paid. I've had good luck with HF's air tools.

I have an older HF stapler that just has a little piece of flat bar for a safety foot. I filed a notch in it to center it when stapling wire & it works great.

The local HF had a sign at the register, 25% off a single item on Easter Sunday. probably all stores ?

Today I got a text message from HF with a 20 % off code, good for a single item thru 4.24.11
If anyone needs the code, PM me it should work in all stores.

Also their web site had an ad that said 20% off a single item ordered on line. I couldn't print it so I called the local store and read them the code number, they said it's good to use in the store, just write it down and see the manager when you come in.

Can anyone recall the lowest selling price they have seen the 2 Ton folding engine hoist in maybe the last year or so?

Foldable Shop Crane - 2 Ton

I'm thinking of buying one tomorrow with the 25% off coupon and $209 price. That takes it to $156.
They regularly sell for the $209 but I think I saw them for $125 or so within the past few months.
Anyone remember?
