I see they have videos now on some products thats a good touch...

There are a surprising amount of home made videos showing HF products on Youtube, too.

Thanks. We had an F1 tornado hit us a couple of days ago and I lost about 75-100 trees. I've managed to bend the snot out of the thumb on my excavator moving downed trees. I may go for one of the 20 ton presses and see if it will straighten it. It's a MAJOR pia to take off the excavator. Well, actually, it came off somewhat easy, but took over 100 full swings with an 8lb sledge to drive the pivot pin back in place when replacing the thumb last time. Talk about a cardiovascular treat....I'm getting too old for that much of a treat!

Dargo, Sorry to hear about your trees. You are lucky it was only F-1 and not a really big monster. So long as you are able to talk about it and not mangled, that is the most important part.

I find that making (or having a machine shop make) longer pins with more gradual taper sure helps when driving them back in. This really makes a difference, even if the final result is only 1/2 to an inch longer. This is provided, of course, that the extra length isn't too much in the way. Mine aren't.

I suppose you could weld and grind a little and extend the length by adding on. The add-on would not be involved in the pin's job, just provide a longer more gradual tapered part to make insertion way easier. Funny, I didn't think of that before just now. Thanks for the thinking assistance, Dargo.

Quick question...

Anyone try the 4" tile saw? Seems to have good reviews and apologies if it has already been discussed. I have a couple bathrooms I need to tile and with the 20-25% off this thing is in the high $20/low $30 range. Also, does it come with a blade or not? Can't get a definitive answer.

As for recent purchases...drywall/deck screwdriver. Couple things...

1) The bits are garbage. You need decent drywall bits. Fortunately those are available cheap from somewhere else.
2) The magnet that holds it all in isn't quite strong enough. You will pull the whole extension out alot. Perhaps fixable with a 3rd party extension.
3) Found it funny (yet somewhat impressed) they include an extra set of motor bushings with the package.

In short, not great, but not bad considering I got it less than $30 with coupon to hang several sheets of drywall. Took a few minutes setting the depth gauge and I was rolling though it all.

I used a BIL's HF tile saw, and it works like they say it does. I have nothing to compare it to (I haven't used any other kind of tile saw), but it was pretty smooth cutting the tile.

I have 4 lifts in my barns as well as a tire changer and balancer. I don't know if all Greg Smith shops are the same, but the one in Indy doesn't seem to care one bit if someone else has the same product for 20% less. Rather than work with me when I handed them a current ad from a competitor across town, they simply told me that I ought to go buy from that other dealer; so I did. Not only to save money on the purchase, but I became concerned about after the sale service.

Greg Smith has some of their stuff on ebay, usually cheaper than they sell it in the store. My plan was to buy it off ebay and pick it up at the store. I figure I'd ask them when there if they would honor the ebay buy it now price without forcing me to actually buy it through ebay.

I did buy the 20 tom press from them, it's the kind where the hydraulic cylinder can slide side to side. I wanted this style over the car jack for the extra flexibility. I did pump it up until the gauge read 20 tons and it held. It wasn't cheap but at the time they were the only place that I could pick it up from so shipping put the others higher.
