Harbor Freight Tools that don't suck

Wanted to give it a try at milling AR15 80% lowers using a router & bits from HF and jig assy from Daytona. Had to cut the router base out to fit over/clear the buffer area on the lower. Everyone I show can't believe how perfect they turned out. I milled two lowers in about 2-hours.

Harbor Freight is already the elephant in the room when it comes to hand tools and I believe they are the place where younger people go for quality hand tools at fair prices. HF already is the "Craftsman" tools of today. There may have some nasty tools made the past but take a look at their good stuff today and it's impressive. Yes I like the old Craftsman but yes I like the top line HF. Price weighted, HF wins in hand tools.
That's funny I'm 35 and never seen anyone younger in there. Lots of gray hair in there. I have a little more than I should too.

Different here (Northern California). I think the age distribution of HF customers is about the same as the ages actively employed in the trades, more than half under 40. Older homeowner-DIY types are there too but far from a majority.

Ya' know what wouldn't suck at all?

Kicking in a level of order dollars to get 'free' shipping so we didn't have to clog up the stores for little things. They used to do it years back. I got quite a few things from them that way. Not sure why they stopped it at a time when web orders were just taking off in a big way. They still do a 'flat' shipping thing, but there are size and weight limitations that kick common things into higher bulk rates. Even if it was only for ITC members which might make that worthwhile.

Thinking of buying a floor jack cross beam. Can anyone tell me the dimensions of the pin that fits in the jack. I have an old Sears jack, not sure if it will fit. The pin on my saddle is 1 1/8” long and 1 3/16” in diameter. Any thoughts on these beams? Thank you.

Isn't the biggest or best made, out of all the similar models; but the Harbor Freight Manual Tire Changer 62317/69686 seems to do the job for the occasional user. The tires that came from the factory on my 2006 Rhino have finally decided to start failing. Being such an old machine I know it is only a matter of time before repairs start to become more frequent, so I didn't want to spend a ton on tires nor having them mounted. I wanted the absolutely cheapest solutions available.

I got the cheapest set of four tires I could find that had some decent reviews, and with local mounting costs being $15 per tire, I picked up the HF changer at the closest store. It ended up being just under $34 after tax and the 20% off coupon, and I didn't even have a 20% off coupon with me. I just asked the checkout clerk, she pulled out her phone and brought one up off the internet and scanned her phone screen to apply the coupon.

After doing all four Rhino tires with ease, I decided to see if it would break on a big tough old BF Goodrich (original) KO that's been sun baking onto an old 16" aluminum rim for about 8 years in my recycling pile. It was a tough tire, but the changer worked without issue.
