Never had a Stihl pee when sitting.

My Stihl pro has always leaked a little bar oil when stored. I have the adjustable oiler set to to the max setting and wonder if that what causes the leak. My Dad has a Poulan pole saw that leaks way worse than my Stihl chainsaw.

I was was about to post about the ethanol issue. Use ethanol free fuel or counteractive additives for storage but keep your fuel system full.

I treat every drop of gasoline I buy with Stabil 360 Marine. It counteracts the effects of ethanol contaminated gasoline.

It goes in my 2-cycle equipment, Polaris Ranger, and Corvette.

I've virtually eliminated fuel line issues with chain saws, etc.

I never had a Stihl that didn't leak oil, and I have had 3 of them. But they get used just a few times a year and I clean them off real good after every use. I line the bottom of the saw case with a half dozen paper towels and 6 months later the towels are soaked with oil.

My little Ryobi 18V lives nose-down in a 5 gallon bucket with the sheath on the bar. Any oil that accumulates in the sheath (not much) pre-oils the bar to begin the next project. And the bucket is easy to hang onto the tractor when its time to go start the next project.

My pockets aren't so deep that I'm going to spend an extra 60-70¢ /gal on my truck when it runs just fine on 87 octane E10. Small engines, absolutely, though I do just use E10 in my lawnmower given that it's used every 4-5 days.

Agreed, he's talking about literally throwing money away unless he's storing these vehicles. If your buying fuel in your car every week like most people, you'll never need to consider this as an issue.

Oh, and there is no old school gasoline available unless I drive almost an hour away, and it's massively more expensive per gallon.

I haven't seen any issue with ethanol in modern fuel injected vehicles, carburated engines yes.
My plow/sander truck sits all summer with the batteries disconnected and fires right off when needed.
One of the farms older pickups sits for a week to a month at times it may need a boost to get started but it runs fine,
it has had ethanol bleded fuel all it's life.
