Anyone wanting to buy a bunch of HF jack stands? I think I know where you might get a bargain on some.

I guess HF is pushing their ICON Tool storage? I received two emails to each of the email addresses HF has for me.
Each email included a 20% coupon, good until the end of June. Does that mean I get 80% off?

Part of the problem with the jack stand recall is what they are used for.
The HF stands are so inexpensive they can be used for structures not designed to be left on jack stands.
Some people use them like mini-lally columns (jack post).
In the South I see house trailers on jack stands.
Even my BIL has a small utility trailer that has a slow leaking tire that he just puts on a jack stand when he parks it.

I just bought a pair of the 6 Ton jack stands a couple of months ago.
My 6 ton has the item number label in the location the recall specified for the 3 ton jack, not the 6 ton. Fortunately, it's a different item number, so I don't have to deal with the hassle of returning them.

Has to be the way the pawl's are cast into the adjustable casting, I looked at mine closely and the pawl casting fully engages the lever. One has to wonder what exactly the recall issue is.

I'm perfectly happy with US General myself. I view the ICON boxes as overkill at least for my use. I will say I like their ICON torque wrenches. less than 1/2 the price of Snapon and just as accurate plus they indicate clockwise and counter clockwise torque which is a big plus for me as I deal with left hand torque constantly.

Notice the Closeout tab of that email includes a lot of jack stand #'s that weren't in the recall? 
The only jack stands on HF's website now are all new models.
And one relative bargain on closeout, the black 8 gallon tank compressor. It has a replaceable pressure sensor/shutoff that is generic and cheap to replace. I think it was $10 for the control and a couple $ for the overpressure relief (Ebay) when I did my earlier version of that compressor. In contrast it looks like their newer fancy models are unique and designed for throw-away when they act up.
I didn't look at the tool cabinets after seeing the cost!

I've been pretty happy with the US General stuff also... but I can see where I would look at ICON if I was someone new coming into the industry... Compared to Snap-on or even Mac... the price difference is a good chunk of your starting salary...
Well if you think $7400 is overkill look at Snap-on or Mac in the same sizes & with similar features... I'm not saying they are not better (not saying they are) but at 3X the price... Whoa... My older brother has been a mechanic for almost 40 years & back then you bought either Snap-on or Mac... it was just the way. He said if he was starting out today he would look at Icon for both the tooling & tool storage... & he is a Snap-on junkie...
