My woods are WORSE than yours! I'm in VT, and most of my woods are closer together than yours so I have to cut my way in and sometimes out too. I cut so many trees clearing out an area for my new barn and addition for my house, and woods behind the house I had the excavator working two HUGE machines for over two weeks removing stumps and digging ditches I just couldn't get to because of the crappy weather over the last several seasons. I have blowdowns all over the place and trees snapped off like toothpicks half way up or more from constant relentless winds, and neverending rain, sleet, hail, etc.
The tractor does a lot of the selective work that the excavator cannot come close to doing, but all in all if I had years to clean it all up I probably could have done it with my then helper/gofer. But I need things done in fairly rapid fashion or nothing ever gets completed. I've got stranglehold vines that get real thick and choke out some trees, streams running everywhere, and all kinds of junk wood. Aspen, Birch, Ash, etc. Not enough Maples or Pines, and way to many under canopy sucker trees crowding out each other.
Go get yourself a brand spanking new tractor and don't look back. You'll be glad you did and can turn off the worry button in your brain.
You want to take a trip up here to try mine out let me know. No one that I'm aware of that I've steered toward a hydro Kioti has expressed any regret. Ball is in your court - who you 'gonna call ? Tractormythbusters, that's us here on TBN!:dance1:
