We recently found out our 10 year old golden retriever has cancer. She has a tumor that is rapidly growing in her sinus cavity and seems to be affecting her brain activity. She had some seizures last night...scary thing to witness. Her time here is sadly coming to an end. Their life here is WAY too short. Go home tonight an hug your dog, cat, horse, etc. You never know what tomorrow might bring. /forums/images/graemlins/frown.gif

David I know it all to well and I do hug and kiss both my dogs every night, really. The dog associated with my name here is Moses. He was hit and killed by a car. It was Aug 4th 2001, I think about him much. I can only hope to be half the person my dogs think I am. So very sorry about your Golden. Mark

Last fall our Golden started doing strange things, walking in circles, using the rug as a latrine, etc. We kept her around and then one night she has a seizure, lasted about two hours, she lasted about a day but never got up again. She was resting comfortably, so we figured to let nature take its course. Strange thing was, just before she had the seizure, she went to the door went outside to the bathroom and was almost her old self. She died one day short of thirteen years and nine months.

She had only been with us for two and half years.

When we came to Florida this year, it was to quiet, without our Pomeranian and the son's new pup.

Did a search in the papers and then the internet, seven days after we left home we were owned by a four and half year old golden by the name of Morgan. The family that she owned previously had three dogs, two cats, four kids and another on the way and just not enough time for her so she was looking for a new family.

Acts just like Syndey in so many ways, that she gets called Sydney instead of Morgan about half of the time. She is a real sweetheart and can not imagine our life without a Golden in it again.

We feel your pain.

Sorry to hear of your sad news. Our golden is almost FIFTEEN. She's seen the kids go from elementary school to college! Best dog I've even been around.

Since I'm retired now and need the exercise, I took her to the park today and we walked 3 miles. We've been doing that several months now. She doesn't bound around like she used to, but off the leash, she still prances about 5 minutes, then resumes walking on the path beside me.

May you always find joy in remembering your friend!

Yes, their time here with us is too short. They ask for so little, yet give so much. I have a 9YO Lab that has been with me constantly since she was a pup; right now she's over on the couch, wondering why I suddenly woke her up to scratch her ears and tell her I love her. /forums/images/graemlins/blush.gif

Take care, our thoughts are with you.

Try as I might, I don't think I'll be ever able to give my two dogs as much joy as they have given to me . I don't know what,or how I'll feel when they are gone . But , You can be sure that both will be remebered with love ,and affection . I'm sorry for Your loss .
But in the coming days ,and weeks I hope that the hurt of Your loss lessens ,and the joy that you recieved remains. John

David,
I am very sorry for you. I think the phrase, mans best friend, speaks volumes.

Thank You, Everyone...last night was better, the seizures stopped but anyone that knows her will notice her brain activity has been seriously altered. A buddy of mine came over and we dug her grave w/ his backhoe. That was rather depressing but I wanted to have it done b/c if she passes in the night I do not want her to wait to be buried. She deserves better. The rest of our dogs (all 10 of them!) are very somber...they know as well as we do. Thanks again for the support.

I can understand your feelings right now.

Katie had been with us for almost 10 years when she got sick. She had surgery to remove a tumor in her abdomen but never really got back to herself and later sonograms revealed a tumor on her liver that was inoperable.

We kept her around for a couple days but had to carry her out for her business.

It was a Sunday when we finally decided to let her go. I went out and dug a hole under the cherry tree and laid her favorite blanket next to it. A friend of ours is a vet tech and she came to put her to sleep. We sat next to her for an hour or so just saying good-bye.

That was more than just a bad day.

Daughter went out on the porch one morning and come running back in and said the dog was dead....sure enough he had died overnight, why I don't know...All I know is he was stiffer than a 4' x 8'...got him in the truck...man he felt as big as a deer. I went to plant him and it it was some hard digging. I did not get him deep enough, about 2 weeks the opposums and racoons had found part of him, a little hair here a little hair there...that was 2 years ago and the grass is nice and green during the summer on that one spot up on the hill. I told my daughter and wife we should have took him to the taxidermist...they did not like that idea. /forums/images/graemlins/mad.gif
