Hard to engage PTO

It's often very hard to get the PTO to engage on my MF1726E. I try putting it in neutral, putting the range shifter in neutral, working the clutch, and taking it out of 4x4--but sometimes I just can't get the bugger to engage! What am I missing?

Mine does that, too. Try briefly engaging the other PTO lever -- it will make a "cliicking" noise. Engage it just a second or two, then put that lever back to neutral and try the first lever again.
