My fascias and all the rest of my trim is Hardi. It comes in varying widths, and it can be ripped with a circular saw, but it's not a lot of fun.
If I were to do it again I would use Hardi trim. At the time I did my projects I wasn’t aware the trim was available

In my local area there are quite a number of suppliers that stock the horiz HP siding and only one that I’m aware of that stocks the 4x8 sheets of HP but I know of no one that stocks the trim.

One supplier told me they used to stock the trim but because it tends to be rather fragile they had too much loss due to breakage, they now only deal with special order.

Don't know about the breakage, I didn't have any trouble. Last I knew it is readily available around here. It comes 5/4" thickness. My soffits are also Hardi, they make a ventilated product so you don't have to install vents. Easy and it looks good.
