Decided I need/want a hardtop for my RTV 1140. Need sources and price. I've got a starting (Retail) price at my Kubota Dealer but not an actual cost to me price from the owner.
So, any assistance of where to purchase a hard top and price will be appreciated.

John, just curious, but are you considering a metal top or a hard plastic one?

I was sure I wanted a top when we bought our 1140 back in November. My wife convinced me to wait to see if I really needed it. Now that we have made it through the heat of the summer without it I think I am going to do without for a while longer. There are several places along the trails in my woods that would do a number on a top.

Its hard to justify $700 on a top.

I was sure I wanted a top when we bought our 1140 back in November. My wife convinced me to wait to see if I really needed it. Now that we have made it through the heat of the summer without it I think I am going to do without for a while longer. There are several places along the trails in my woods that would do a number on a top.

My wife made a waterproof material top for ours but the space between rails holds several gallons of water, the back section did not hold with velcro and I tore it on a tree limb hanging over my trail last week. Having one has shone me that I do want a top but I want more than a cloth top. I finally talked to Steve Barlow today (Owner of Barlows Tractor Sales) and he has one of the black plastic ones that's suggested retail of $395 which he sold me for $300. It's worth that much to me and I'm tight. I'll keep the RTV for years, maybe ten or more so that should work out to $30 or less per year. Told him I'll pick it up next week. There was one like it on a RTV900 he had in his showroom and it looks good to me. I'll post pictures after I get it.

Its hard to justify $700 on a top.

I agree, where did the $700 come from?

I got the factory top on my 1140 and really like it. I've used it in the rain and stayed dry, used it for shade from the sun, even scrubbed it up against trees that I've gotten too close to and not broken it. Expensive yes, but if I had to do it all over again, I would buy it. I believe you will enjoy it.

Didn't wait. Just went ahead and picked it up this morning and installed it. Well satisfied with it.

I second this. I know you already got one but I bought the top and windshield from fortress and love mine. I don't like plastic from a durability stand point. Fortress makes nice steel ones powder coated and trimmed. Heck, they even put a fiber headliner inside, didn't even know that till it showed up. I would have done the aluminum one but wanted a system that fit together.

I too had the soft top for just half a year and hard is the only way to go.

nice rig John:thumbsup:

This looks like a pretty good deal.

that price for a aluminum roof i would jump on it. down here a 4x8 sheet if 3/16 is 300.00 bucks and thats not the diamond plate thats just regular flat.this top is probably 1/8th thick but still worth it because of the bends in it.i don't know thw whole top measurements of it but it could be a nice do it yourself job if you go out and buy a sheet of aluminum it's not that hard to bend and you could save a few bucks on the price and shipping.

Now you tell me. Maybe that's why it was so hard to get the threads through enough to get the rubber pads and steel plates on the top. Will redo.:)

Redid. Took about 15 minutes to correctly install them. Maybe I've learned that when something simple seems to be difficult, back off and maybe read instructions or consider other options of assembly.:)

My 1140 had the factory plastic top installed when I bought it. I've used it in heavy woods and so far it's held up well.

I consider it safety equipment since it protects me and my passengers from being hit by overhead limbs.
