Anyone have a Harley Rake? Read some of the old posts on folks looking to clear land. Harley Rake looks like it does pretty good job. Also read that ATI makes a similar type model.

Looking to use it on my pasture fields to smooth out some rough places and have some undesirable grass growing in places that I would like to pulverize and reseed. Have other areas were there is just dirt and rock that I would like to clear the rocks out of.

Thoughts, ideas, suggestions?
Thanks

I'd have to say that a double roll Harley has yet to have a match. Now the single roll does have comparables with other machines and they do do a good job for what you are inquiring about.

I rented a T-8 Harley a week ago and it did an impressive job doing what you are considering. It was too big for some areas around the house but did a nice job on 2-3 acres of open areas to be planted with grass seed. I liked it enough that I ordered a T-6 for a compact tractor, unfortunately Harley is changing some production and won't be able to deliver until Nov 2, that's too late for this season so I ordered a Woods Power Rake (same thing) and saved $500, and should take delivery in a few days.

You may be able to rent a power rake from sunbelt rentals, they don't carry them in the SW Ohio market for some reason, but I found them in Indiana, on the other side of Indianapolis. Or try your local ag tractor dealer.

Good Luck!

How did the rake work on thick sod. My fields have thick grass roots. When I peal off some sod, it is pretty thick with roots and dirt. If a rake would chew that all up, lay it back down, then I would have nice smooth dirt, could do a little leveling, seed and be done. Does that sound possible with your experince with the rake?

By the way, how much is a Harley rake? I heard around 7K.

I've used a Harley rake attached to a skid loader and the thing was incredible!

When I got done using it, you couldn't tell there was grass just hours before. I did have to go over the areas multiple times, but with each pass, it got more and more like I was working in just dirt.

If I had the dollars to just spend, a Harley rake would be one of the 1st things I'd purchase.

You can call the company and they might send you a video or cd of the rake in operation . Mine works great and it will tear up sod as long as you make a few passes over the ground. It will win row rock for pickup or just drag them to the end of the lot. They are a great tool for dirt work also they work better than a grader box and sift through the clods and rock . 6500 to 7000 new is getting close to the price . I got mine two years ago and have been happy with it .

I am buying a Woods Power Rake, same specs as a Harley, made by Harley, $500 less than Harley with a Woods paint job on it ($6540) Go figure! Should be in early next week, cutting close on getting grass seed started but I have had some other delays in this project. I was quoted $7K- $7200 for a Harley T-6.

With a few passes it should tear up sod and leave a great seed bed.

Skippy- My dealer says there are 6 T-6 Harleys at his distributor in Columbus, OH.
