Re: Harv here\'s the pic of that fabric I promised you

I take it thats a woven geotextile, right? What is the oz weight of the fabric?
I've been looking into a couple of new makes.

Not sure Gordon. I know that it's called road grade. A friend of mine that builds roads got that for me awhile back and it's been great building roads.

Re: Harv here\'s the pic of that fabric I promised you

Thanks, Richard! /w3tcompact/icons/smile.gif

That's the first look I've ever had at the stuff. Looks like a pretty tight weave, but I guess it would have to be for it to do what it does.

Some of my future projects and/or implements are somewhat in doubt due to current financial considerations, but the road fabric is at the top of the list. It's relatively cheap and it sounds like the right material to cure my muddy road, so I fully expect to be ordering some this summer.

It occurs to me that we could start another thread called, "What's in your rafters?", but the mere thought of it scares me. /w3tcompact/icons/crazy.gif

My sister-in-law used this stuff on a section of their road that they had been having trouble with for years. They have had that section repaired (with the fabric) now for about 4 or 5 years, and it is doing real well. She's real happy with the result.

Re: Harv here\'s the pic of that fabric I promised you

That looks like the same stuff I helped my friend put down. The stuff was very heavy in a roll like that, he said it was about 1300 bucks to do his drive , his drive was about 200 - 250 ft. Can you tell me who manufactured that ? Did you say it was 300$ a roll? , or was that a goodbuddy deal? thanks

Eric -

Last month I was quoted a price of $325 for a 12.5' by 360' roll from a supplier not known for his good prices. Not sure what weight this was, nor do I know what choices there are in that regard, but from what I've been reading, that price was in the high end of the ballpark.

Putty,
No it was $3?? for the two rolls. $1300 bucks for 200-250 feet? I can't imagine that. Are you sure that wasn't the price to do the whole drive. This stuff really isn't that expensive. That was a good buddy deal that I got on those two rolls.

Re: Harv here\'s the pic of that fabric I promised you

I think that is the same type of fabric I have to buy for a high use feeding area for the old cow lot. The soil conservation office sells it around here for $1 a square ft. or maybe that was a foot off of the roll. I don't know if its the same same grade but that maybe something to go by. I'll know something here before long when I get ready to get into it. whoa that must be off the roll! Per square I could almost use blacktop.
