I haven't priced the mp1 SR80 or the PT-80, but I'm sure they are more expensive then the mp2. Also, you should note that the mp1 and PT-80 consider accessories such as air seat, bucket position control, flashing light and Hydraulic quick-attach as extras. What kind of prices are you getting from your dealer?

BTW, 20" tracks are good in the snow.

jmfox: I got 48900.00 with deluxe cab just heat. No quick hydro and no flashing light. Not sure on air seat. Do I need that ? I think bucket leveling is standard in the 80's.

Is that price for the mp1 (wide) cab? The older mp2 style sr-80's are getting around $44k used. Seat suspension is a nice perk, but not necessary since the rubber track system offers some suspension qualities. What kind of numbers are you getting for the PT-80?

Rough numbers on PT 80 seem to be darn close to 50k. I need to see the new PT 60 before all is said and done. The 60's look like 40k and with the new wider cab design I may just move down. I want enough lifting power to
move timber in fairly wet areas. If you have input moving/pulling hemlock and spruce I would love to hear your thoughts.

From what I hear the PT-60 is suppose to be a "giant killer." The neat thing is towability. It has the top speed and constant power through out the tourque range. Demo it.

jmfox: That is exactly what I need to do. The PT 60 seems to have everything you need but low flow hydro which I think I can live with. It will be 2 weeks before I can demo it so if anybody has info on PT 60 please share that. When they say tipping load is 3800 lbs how would you translate that into lifting at say 60 inches..? Can I lift 2500 lbs of timber 50/60 inch off the ground..?

You'll be able to lift 3800 lbs quite easily but, as you approach the 5 foot mark, the extended weight will have an affect on the machine's stability. (You'll be on your tippy toes.) When you buy attachments, make sure they do not increase the tipping leverage by putting the load too far forward.

Got it. I think I'm all set. The application I had in mind was this. Spruce/Hemlock blow downs in wet areas after limbing them out I'll lift and drag timber into a better position/area for further buck up. Some of the Hemlocks are 24/30 inches in diameter and I didn't want to ruin the logs cutting lengths really short just to move them out. So my lift need is 40 inches or so. Butt off ground I should be able to drag 30 maybe even 40 foot
timber from tight areas into clear work space right..?

I have an sr80 and have pushed fallen 30" pines, roots, branches and all, anywhere I wanted. I expect the PT-60 would pull out logs without any problem, but you really need to prove this to yourself.

Thanks again Jmfox. Now I need to wait until 5 feet of snow melts to get into
the woods. I will report back in May and give all my demo experiences then.:)
