I was reading one of the earlier posts about the "limited" capacities of the mini-trucks, and disagree with this.

We have a late eighties Mitsubishi left hand drive. The max gvw on the label is 1800 lbs. The bed is 52" wide x 76" long.

In comparison the Kubota RTV1100 max. payload is 1631 lbs. The bed is 52" wide x 46.7" long.

If, in fact, the GVWR of the Mitsubishi mini truck is 1800 lbs, that's not too impressive compared to the RTV1100 you mentioned. GVW is the TOTAL max. wt. that the vehicle is rated to carry, so if the GVW of the Mitsubishi is 1800 lbs, then the empty wt. of the truck must be subtracted from 1800 to get the max. payload.

OTOH, the RTV1100 weighs 2469 and is rated to carry a 1631 lb payload, giving it a GVW of 4100 lbs.

Correct. Fortunately the guy down the road from me admitted that the 2500 pound loads I've very frequently carried in my RTV900 and RTV1100 would likely break the Japanese Kei trucks immediately. I very much appreciated his honesty even though being honest about what he had to sell cost him the sale to me. To do what I wanted, he told me that I'd easily double the cost of what I'd have to pay him for the truck and then it would still not be able to handle the heavy loads over rough terrain that my RTV's have hauled.

I've posted pictures on here with my RTV900 loaded with wet, heavy clay soil stacked in the bed as high as the roll bar. I realize that each load was over the rated limit, but I literally hauled, and dumped, many hundreds of loads like that when finishing my driveway out after doing 6" of concrete for about 1/4 a mile. I couldn't tell you how many hundreds of trips it took to fill both sides of the driveway to make a smooth grade from the concrete to the yard. The Kei trucks are cool machines, but clearly not what I needed and I'm fortunate the seller let me know as much.

The label states max. weight 1800 lbs, which I assume means payload. I would guess that it probably weighs close to 1800 empty. It hauls a load of split firewood to the top of the cab without alot of trouble. I would not consider hauling a lot of clay or stone on it.

check out www.minitrucktalk.com and click on new posts and look for "the heaviest load you have hauled in your mini truck" posting.

I've seen 50 (60#) bags of soybean seed going across a picked corn field. That was 2 1/2 years ago and this dairy farmers Suzuki Carry just keeps on running.

I would not be afraid of 2-3 thousand lbs for a short haul.

New on-going build ... should be completed in 2 weeks. 12 volt elec./hyd. pump, will dump into a roll off dumpster, will have access side door. Sold to a roofer for tear-offs and another to a campground.

Nice looking work there and I see many practical uses for such a machine at camp sites and other such places. Great thinking!

I have and yes I would get one of those instead of a side by side atv any day.

I ever find a real use for one not just a "I want one" I will get one of the Suzuki fuel injected 4wd models with heat and air and hi/low transfer case from about year 1999 up.

I have a farmer I know with one and another few people that have them they use the heck out of them. And around here they can driven on county roads not state roads but that leaves a lot of country roads to be driven getting chores done firewood etc.
