Thanks all, for the replies. I had not thought about a wrecker. My neighbor's tractor is a Massey Ferguson 231 with a front end loader. He said he can pick-up a bucket of wet clay if the front end gets too light. If that won't work I'll call a wrecker to move it to the back of the property. I just want to make sure it gets moved the same day that I un-block it and cut the tie downs.

I'm not going to be any help hear, but your post did remind me of moving mobile homes over lakes during winter.

Minnesota has several rather large lakes that have islands. Many people purchase land on the islands and use this as there summer cabin or home. Rather than going the stick built route, many people prefer to haul mobile homes across the lake during the winter. Even when the ice is at its thickest 3+ feet, if you are following the vehicle doing the towing, you can see the "waves" roll out in front of the tow vehicle. It's an amazing site to see.

Anyway--hope all goes well with the move.

Good Luck

Bob

I seen one sitting in Ohio near Athens about 20 years ago and it had broken off behind the rear wheels,it was not a pretty site. It is no wonder that happens ..One mobile home I had the I beam/frame was less then a quarter inch thick and I want to say an 1/8"(20 years ago) I went to move this one and I packed everything and moved it all out except for the couch and kitchen table/chairs before it was transported. I had had enough mobile home problems and I did not need anymore.

I moved a 10' x 57' mobile home about 50 yards up a slight grade to a spot I leveled. I used a 36hp 4wd tractor, and had no problems. Your neighbor should have no problems on level ground.

If it's realitively level and smooth and the tongue weight ain't too much for the tractor, the tractor can tow it anywhere.
If it's got wheels it'll roll with pressure.

update: Got it moved.

We got it moved out of the way on Sat. Ended up putting all the concrete blocks in the back of the trailer because the front was still too heavy to lift. After the blocks were loaded he still could'nt lift it but decided to try and drag it anyway. The hitch dragged the ground but he got it moving and out of the way. /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif
