Point taken JJ. Actually, you have no idea how bad I want a PT. I'm just trying to do my homework before I buy one. I know I'm making too big of a deal about the engine. It's just that we're all a product of our experiences and I have had horrible luck with the Kohlers that I've owned. On the plus side there is a company here in Kansas City that sells engines cheap and I could probably replace a Kohler with a Koher for $500.

Where do you live? The Robins have had reported problems of hard starting in cold weather. My Kohler has started down to -15 and ran for hours at +95. The Kohler Command 25HP engine seems to work great, for me.

Kansas City. I'm glad you've had good luck with your engines. Hopefully I'm the exception rather than the rule.

I am wondering how hard it would be to convert from a Kohler(I hate them) to- say a Kabota water cooled engine.
Have you called and talked to Terry to see if it might be possible to get them to build you a pt of what ever size you were interested in with the motor that you want in it. If the motor that you want with the extras could be fit in the pt without too much trouble, it might be better to order it with the changes to start with and not buy an engine that you don't want, just a thought won't hurt to ask.

I sure wish we could do that!!

Toy, I think that you have a great idea. When I purchased my 425, Terry was very willing to install the heavier wheel motors and bigger wheels. Actually they came up with the idea when I stated that I would be working in sand.

I'd call Terry and ask about the Kawasaki 29-HP liquid cooled engine. ... That would be cool.

From touring the plant, I came away with the impression that the folks at Power Trac love building toys, and often made one offs to test ideas or markets or to solve customer problems, evidence the PT monster forklift and the lowboy tanker, and others.

No bets on the cost, but if it is really what you want, do you care? In other words, I think you will get a chance to test out how much you value one option over another.

As the say, "careful what you wish for!" :)

All the best,

Peter

How is everything going with your machine now? I hope everything is going good and you can climb any hill you want like a breeze.

Greetings Toy,

The engine still runs good but had hyd pump issue and have not had the heart to put another wrench into the machine until i get bored.

I did however just last week Thursday- take delivery on a new john deere 4$WD hydo transmission 3120 with 62" bucket, 84" Plow and bale spear- Rear tires are loaded which brings weight up to about 5,000 with bucket or plow on. 3 point hitch is standard cat 1 so it can use the standard and not "limited" class 1 attachements.

I have put about 12 hours on it.

The 429 PT puts the 422 to shame. The 3120 is awesome. It will do stuff i could never imagine doing with the PT.

Thanks,

Steve
