We had a bumper crop of Tumble weeds in Northern Nevada this year. I'm still clearing large areas. I have another couple acres to go. I was watching the demo and wondered how the Ratchet Rake might work on them.

Why not just use a rotary cutter and shred them? Raking them just creates a piling and disposal issue.

I have neither ratchet rake or rotary cutter. I use my grapple to pull them out. I wonder - does a sage bush regrow from the stump left by using a rotary cutter. For sure - nothing regrows when the sage is pulled.

I do know that sage isn’t fire tolerant and doesn’t resprout from the roots after wildfire. Mowing may have the same effect. And of course there are different species of sage.

Unfortunately the tumble weeds conceal big rocks and i just about ruined my 3 point brush hog. Once I get them cleared this year I'll do more grading and rock removal. The rake isn't terribly expensive so I might give it a try.

Well - TBob42 - your not alone with the big rocks. I have one large - 30 acre - high meadow that I work on every year. Just me - the tractor - the grapple. All the remaining land is pretty much clear of rocks.
