I'd can the stock nip trans and transfer case. Your small block will be too much for the trans. I'd build the small block and adapt the Th350 and the NP205. If your Chevy is full time 4wd, keep the toy-rota transfer case. Advance Adapters www.advanceadapters.com They make about every conceivable adapter. Your FJ is a rag top?? I'd also put in a high stall converter and a KluneV or an Atlas twin stick between the turbo-hydro and the transfer case.

After all, it's only money!!

We've got a 13" VCR/TV combo that we run from an inverter. We set it between the front seats and give the kids headphones when we travel at night. We then measure trips not by miles, but by how many movies it will take to get there /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

In the daytime, they have to look out the windows like we did when we were kids. "Dad! You're mean!" /forums/images/graemlins/tongue.gif

I d like to have a Unimog but sometimes they have quirks like the engine parts for the original engines have to be brought in. they alre low geared and such. I found one behind a dairy barn I want. Id put in a 3-53 Detroit or a small Cummins. Those are very readily avaiable here plus they can be built with super loose tolerances. And for the slow speeds a better truck transmission can be used. The one behind the barn the fella had the engine rebuilt but couldnt get all the right parts there. Its a high maintenance motor as well. The six speed in it has a top speed of 50 when its running. Im not knocking the older Mercedes engines but thers no suppliers here I like the availability of the Detroit also the deafening racket. Dad said Case imported them for a while in the 70's for farm use about 30 grand then.
