Just curious as to its performance. Maybe someone on here has one. Please post your observations and reviews.

It looks like a fun vehicle.

But I suspect it has no suspension system, so it might not be as versitile or controllable on rough terrain as an atv.

Probably could be a teeth jarring ride.

Many years ago I read a few rather nasty reviews of it. Don't know anyone on TBN that has one, that I can recall.

It must be a disappointing unit, if nobody has one. If it worked as good as it looked, I would be interested in one.

I also saw some pretty low reviews on these machines some years back (early 2000s). I had an ARGO 8x8 (same skid-steer style) back in those years, and while similar in concept, it was a pretty good machine for certain purposes - think swamp, bogs, snow-cat (with wide tracks). It was much less competant or comfortable on hard ground. Back in the '60s, there were quite a few 6x6, fiberglass hull, two-cycle powered units that were sort of the forerunner of ATVs. They gave way to modern ATVs for a reason though, one of which is they would beat you to death after an hour or so on rough terrain.

We sold the ARGO and got a couple Polaris Rangers (side-by-side ATV) and like them MUCH better. Still have two of them. Versitile, comfortable, easy to drive, FUN. Do not think the Hunt-Vee would even come close as it is much cruder than ARGO or MAX, about the only modern 6x6 or 8x8 of this type.

My neighbor has an ARGO. I think it has a Kawasaki engine. Anyway, it is a neat vehicle, but it tears the heck out of my trails because it is a skid steer. It really opens up some ruts and leaves permanent tire tracks. I'm about ready to ask him not to drive it on my property any more. I hate to do that, because he is a really good guy, hunts our land and keeps the trespassers out. Also, he has a couple nice boys that he appears to be raising correctly. I just don't like the erosion problems and permanent ruts is it causing. :(

Altough it is a skidsteer, I did not see errosion or ruts as a problem in my use, (but sure it could under certain conditions). They can be great for swamps and water crossing (but not with any current to speak of), but otherwise a side-by-side atv (like Polaris Ranger) is far better choice IMO. And even in the 6x6 floatable-skidsteer catagory, I would rank the Hunt-Vee lower than the others.

When I went to the demonstration of the 425 there was some men there trying out a hunt-vee. It looked like it would be fun to ride but I never paid a lot of attention to it as I was interested in the 425 and not a Hunt-vee. Seemed like there was a gully there that they were going in and out of. They were going in and out of the gully at different angles, not just straight in and out. It seemed like they were riding without a lot of jolting around but that may have been because the ground was pretty smooth [ no pot holes].

Something if I remember correctly Scott said that that one had a diesel engine in it but now I believe they have a gas engine in them.

They came out back in the late 60s. I gess they have there place. not alot of ground clearance, They didn't impress me at all. There are alot of good gulf carts new an used that are spot on, also the new 4x4s for hunting an such.We have a used gulf cart , it is great for getting around.

All these skid-steer 6x6 (and 8x8) have no suspension, only the very low air pressure tires so they can really bounce you around on anything but the smoothest surfaces. The H-V also has a very heavy steel body which would make the ride even worse. (I have even heard that it does not float too well)

Like you say.....there are better choices of various types.

Holiday Cheers to all ! !
