Has anyone seen an L48?

Hey Mark,

We want to help you out any way we can. A mining excavation job would keep you busy for um... years. BTW what are you towing in signature picture anyway? Is it a gas can? Are you going crazy with the top link on your box blade?

Curious minds want to know?

Gordon - Unless I'm badly mistaken, isn't that the second time you've seen the same hint?

Don't tell me you missed the entire "This is NOT a coffee cup!" discussion! /w3tcompact/icons/smile.gif

Ah Mark what a good memory you have. You are correct and believe it or not I did figure it out the first hint. Afterall it was a pretty sutble hint.

No Mark I caught part of that discussion. It amazes me how involved some of the threads get. When you started that thread did you actually think it would have evolved as far as it has? Pretty cool isn't it.

This time I was just jokin about the cup you know./w3tcompact/icons/smile.gif

Gordon - I thought it was you that asked before - I figured you had to be baiting me.

It is pretty amazing how far we can collectively carry things sometimes. Of course, when it's something as important as a cup for on-the-go refreshments, it's hard to carry it too far. Hard, but not, as we discovered, impossible. /w3tcompact/icons/smile.gif Still, that cup is an awfully important enhancement to my tractor!

Actually, the "tractor dragging the cup" signature idea was a collaborative effort between Harv and myself. I was telling him in a private email that I was thinking about a signature image and was considering a reasonable facsimile of my tractor. He said he'd wondered why I didn't have a big orange cup for my signature and from there we progressed to a reasonable facsimile of my tractor dragging a big orange cup. The rest, as they say, is history.

All joking aside that signature suits you well. After all you went through this summer with the heat. Just glad to see your back to your old self. Glad you also reposted the L4310 posts from the old board alot of good information to the new members. It's alot easier to learn from someone elses tried and true experiences with tractor upgrades.

Talking about being under the weather last week my brother was charging a new water treatment plant and got a good dose of ozone went into full arrest for two minutes and ended up in intensive care. He is out in a regular room now but still in rough shape. One can never be to safe.

Gordon - I'm very sorry to hear about your brother. When you say "full arrest", do you mean cardiac arrest? That's terrible. I'd never heard of ozone doing that to you. I'm glad he's doing better, though.

I was a little concerned when reposting those previous messages that it might be the wrong thing to do. If we all went back and grabbed all of our old messages and reposted them, it would be a huge problem for Muhammad, probably. I remember when the new forum was in the works, I was really hoping he'd be able to bring the messages from the old forum across, but it was too much trouble. But there's still a lot of good stuff there, most of it stuff that's been covered again here but often in a lot less detail.

At any rate, I was hoping there would be enough interest in the original messages that started my "L4310 Enhancements" thread on the old forum to justify reposting them. We'll see - for now, it seems like you're the only one that noticed they're there.

I think naming the thread "L4310 Enhancements" was a mistake. I get the feeling that a lot of the folks here think the info isn't applicable unless they own a Kubota, an L-series, or maybe even an L4310. While that's sort of true with regard to some of the nitty gritty details, most of it is applicable to any type or size tractor, at least in principle. (I mean, I wouldn't recommend putting Michelin XM27 19.5L24 tires on a BX-series, but hey, it might be cool. And even if that size tire won't work, the principles of tread pattern, radial vs. bias, lower inflation pressures, and wider footprint are all transferable.) If I were doing it over again, now that there's a lot more versatility in the forum areas, I'd name it "Tractor Enhancements" and put it in the Tractor Projects area, I guess, though that's more for things you do with your tractor than things you do to it. Maybe Tractor Photos would be the place. Anywhere except a brand-specific area.

Mark, yes full cardiac arrest, ozone I have learned over the past week is very a poisonous gas in higher concentrations. I have only gotten parts of the full story so far. He is still very groggy. He went down in a tank to open a hatch to air it out in order to change some difusser filters in the morning. Well he got a good dose of it I guess and down he went. He got a copter ride to the hospital but doesn't remember it. The fun of startups at new watertreatment plants. Now he has had a couple of visits from OSHA and the fun goes on.

About you reposting I feel it was the correct thing to do on that thread. I was reading through them last week on the old board. But there is a ton of new members who don't know the old board ever existed. Some or should I say A Bunch of great information hidden in there. In my bookmarks I've got the old board main page http://www.tractorbynet.com/tractortalk/

I get a kick out of reading the old posts you are a tough one with the keyboard or should I say the written word when you want to be. I remember reading a few of your posts with the dictionary in my lap. Then Bird posted the same thing was pretty deep but great reading. Guess it shows in my posts that I goofed off in school!!! Live and learn. But I hope I get the basic point across or at least I sure try to./w3tcompact/icons/smile.gif

About people noticing the new old posts some great upgrade informationThat link gets you to chapter one there are two more chapters directly under it. Some great reading about tractor upgrades.

I think if a few of you ask nice Mark would be glad to rename the thread to tractor improvments or something like that for a quicker load time. What do ya think Mark??? Hope that doesn't offend you!!!/w3tcompact/icons/smile.gif

Gordon - Thanks! You're right: The "L4310 Enhancements" thread is a bear to load. I've got my Flat Mode preferences set to only display 25 posts at a time, which helps because you get 6 links to the various pages of posts for that thread and I can just jump to the last page to see the most recent posts. Plus, limiting the number of posts to 25 at a time really speeds up the amount of time it takes for a page to load.

But, if there's anything I can do to help, I'll be happy to. (Except talk less, of course. /w3tcompact/icons/wink.gif)
