When I was growing up, my parents best friends were a husband/wife team that ran the local MF (only) dealership. They had 2 other employees. They have since sold out and moved south. Now that dealer also sells 2 other brands and has 20 employees. That place is 3 1/2 hours away from me.
I did look at MF compacts last year when I was tractor shopping. The two nearest dealers were each about an hour and 1/2 away. I was looking at the 1528. One dealer was very competitive pricewise while the other was not. Other than a couple strange quirks, they're nice strong machines. I concluded the dealers were too far away and ended up buying a different color tractor locally last fall. Since then a new MF dealer opened up less than 5 miles away and they also sell the Cat Challangers (also made by Agco). Most of the MF Ag tractors are powered by Perkins diesels, but the compacts all have Iseki's from Japan. But there is one Cub-Cadet compact that has a CAT(Perkins) motor. Now Cub-Cadet has supposedly teamed up with Yanmar. Strange, this "Global Economy".
