Hauling 2 ton precast concrete blocks on a trailer. Bad idea??

You didn't say the footprint of the blocks on the trailer but I see no problem unless theres a high point load. Are you going to have dunnage under the block?

If so use 4x4 or larger and make sure the load is spread over multiple crossmembers.

I know this has a large footprint and a steel deck but it was about 7k lbs, hauled it on a rollback. 20180424_121113.jpeg

The blocks are 2x2x6.

No problem, that's about 2.3 psi which is nothing for a well built trailer (as long as you're not setting them upright!)

Only problems I've seen on heavy trailers is large machining equipment that has feet and forklifts, always forklifts, those have a surprisingly high point load on the rear tires when unloaded.

I dropped a forklift through a semi trailer once.

I got the concrete wall put up. The whole project was pretty much a train wreck but hauling them went smooth.IMG_1048.JPG

My Contractor hauled these about ten miles. Not sure what they weigh.

There’s 2 different load distributions.
- split between wheel axles and tongue
- distribution on main beam.

In above picture, one could of put a block behind or above rear axle which would severely lessen load on beam, yet could have a similar tongue weight by moving one or two forward.
Above picture looks good having significant tongue weight as the braking is shared by the trailer and truck’s rear brakes more evenly.
