Here are some pics from this past weekend.

Went about 60 miles up the road and dropped 6 of the alfalfa bales, then loaded 7 rolls of coastal.

Headed back to the house 150 miles away. Managed to pop two tires at 11:30 last night, had road service come out, and made it back to the house at about 2:00am this morning.

With the severe drought we have had this year, I have been burning up the roads trying to stock pile hay for our livestock. Looks like I will start haying the cattle next week.

Load I had brought in last week 23-5x5-1/2 rolls

Wow, looks like you have been busy!

I am guessing that the semi bringing in the hay is whoever's you are buying from??

Flat tires suck, more so late at night when you want to get home and get some sleep.:(

I took a few pics pic but they didn't turn out. We had about 260 60 lb small squares on the 27 ft deckover trailer behind the ford. Only 5 tier because the 3 kids couldn't get over 2 tier (14 years old, first year haying I'm assuming) The ladies out did the kids and did the wagon to 9 tiers to finish the field in one load. Not quite the 12 tier we had in the past but good job none the less!

I just bought two more running gears, so next year between us and our hmm, hay partners, we will have 8 racks, one 27 ft trailer and one 16 ft trailer. Sheer bliss to not have to share 2 racks like we used to!

The semi hauling the hay belongs to a freight company that I contracted to haul the hay. Hauling 153 miles, the per bale cost for transportation is $17.83.

Not much different than my fuel cost per bale, on a 306 miles round trip. They can haul 23 per load on this truck, if they had a 53 step deck, it should be 38 bales. On my 32' behind a one ton, I will only haul 14 bales.

What brand/model is the bumper pull if you dont mind me asking?

   / Hauling Hay #46
My buddy hauls 16 - 1000 lb bales on two wagons hooked together behind a 2002 1/2 ton chevy pickup up to 7 miles.

I don't know how much the wagons way, but probably 2000+.

JD 5000,

The bumper pull trailer is a Longhorn Trailer made in Emory, TX. I have purchased a half dozen 32' flatbeds from them, a 45' flatbed, and this is the 3rd car hauler/equipment trailer I've bought from them since 2003.

I'll dig up some better pics of the trailer for you, along with the specs. I don't know that they have a model number per se, as I have them build it to my specs.

Only thing I would change on this particular trailer is the quality of the paint. The others have held up real well, but this one has left something to be desired...

20' x 83" car hauler
8" channel frame, 3" channel crossmembers, 2 6k axles, 1 brake axle, 10k drop leg jack, 2-5/16 bulldog coupler, 6" channel wrap tongue, diamond plate fenders, raised floor, treated floor, break a way kit, rub rail, brace in center of fenders, clearance lights, receiver tube in rear, slide in ramps
Total cost = $2690.00 new

not as much weight as some of y'alls but 18 round bales still get your attention going up and down small hills in the field and yes the trailer is way over loaded:D

I didn't get pictures of the two loads I saw yesterday, but I wish I did. The were stopped in Madisonville, Tx at I45@Hwy75

It was two one ton Dodge trucks with 32' trailers. Each truck had 32 - 3x3x8 alfalfa bales. Now I have bought bales in that dimension that weighed anywhere from 750# up to 950# per bale.

When I have my 32' hooked up to a one ton dually, I am right at 15k tare

Those guys had to be running between 39,000# and 45,400# loaded.
