Still shocked they made me took them 2hr at the town office to figure out how to register it and 600.00 dollars later . But now when there stuck behind me i smile and go extra slow.
Sounds like they found a way to rip you off to the amount of $600. I'd go to the DMV Commissioner or the state's attorney general and find out if they can actually require you to register a tractor. Your town can't set its own 'special rules'.

I asked my wife's boss who's a lawyer if they could he said that they can ask someone to register if deemed necessary because there is a small starch of pave road that is 45 that to drive to get to a non profit land to work on clearing so we can build. I miss living in vermont my grandfather said anytime i want to move back his door is always open as long as i let him drive the kioti.

I guess the law here is you can drive it on 35 speed limit and can cross a road posted high but they got me driving down a posted 45 in one spot so i can cross to get back on a posted 30 really i'm on the 45 for about 75ft

Wow. No farther than that? And $600! Sounds pretty communist to me. I am so lucky to live where the laws and police are farmer friendly. The only place you can't take "self propelled farm equipment" here is the limited access type interstate highway. Not that I would, it's posted 70 mph.

it's not right we bought this tractor to help put the road in because every company wanted 35,000 and up to put a 800 ft driveway and the non profit doesn't that so my wife and i took out a loan for the tractor.

Here in CT state law says you cannot drive on any road unless your tractor is registered and you cannot register your tractor unless you are a registered farm and you have to show three years of tax returns of farm income. How is that for being F-d up.

That sucks tractors are safer on the road then a car. I was turning left and the car in back passed me on the left when i was turning so my bucket went into the side of his car . Whip his car round he gets out yelling say i'm going to pay for that but what he didn't see is the police officer caught it On his dash came. Ruled his fault . I got lucky that it didn't roll the tractor. People need to slow down everyone is in a rush. As my grandfather says if more people had to follow a tractor on the road and slow down and enjoy whats around you because you never know when you numbers up

GilCase. I do not believe you are correct. I don't think you can register a tractor in CT even if you wanted to. There is no such thing as tractor plates that I know of. Also, there is no way to "register" a farm. The only thing close is a farm tax exempt stamp but that only elevates sales tax. There are farm plates for trucks but they are exclusive of each other. You can register a farm for cooking, selling to public exc. But that just registers the kitchen or store. I believe all you need is a SMV placard on back and I'm sure there are some roads you can't be on. Go to East Windsor this time of year when harvesting tobacco. Wen you are stuck in the traffic parade behind all the 5 series tractors look for the registration plates. Not going to find one.

All my life in CT I have never seen a tractor pulled over by police.

Drive away Gil, if what you say is right I doubt there is a cop who would even know how to write the ticket. Good luck, happy tractoring.

Hope this helps Gil Case-
