Have you ever had hot slag burn down inside your boot?

One time, I was welding on some pipe supports and needed to cut something off but a dozer was parked directly under me about 100 feet down. I kept yelling "Fire in the Hole" but he had his feet propped up taking a nap or something. I decided to get his attention, so I took a 1/8" 7018 rod and got under that piece of steel and started going in circles making a big glob of slag and molten steel, then I slapped it with the rod and dislodged a ball of molten metal about the size of a marble. When it hit the hood of his dozer, it popped like a cherry bomb and it looked like the exploding metal all went toward that operator. Man did he wake up and move his a** way back. Then I proceeded to cut the piece that I needed to work on. Seems like I was going to cut some big holes in the beam for a 1" u-bolt and that center piece would have really done him some damage. Man I had to drop my hood so he wouldn't see me laughing my butt off.

I was laying under a IH tractor cutting a bolt off and it popped and a glob of molten metal dropped right straight down into my ear canal. Talk about loud and the burning was nearly unbearable. I couldnt hear very well out of that ear for a few days and then all was good other than the itching after it started healing.

I've had molten slag in the boots a few times!!! But I got you all beat, ever been stung by a bee on the tongue? The best part was we were at a amusement park for my mothers work picnic. She is a nurse and being a young lad all the hot nurses kept feeding me ice cone's and checking on me. I can remember it like it was yesterday. :)

All funny stuff :) ive had slag up the nose, on my tounge on my eye ball yowza, weenie burns down my boots and everywhere else. But bee stings on my tongue brings me back to being a kid. I played hockey for a good part of my life, and every kid in the league got bit on the tounge from leaving open quarts of juice on the bench. They were like milk cartons then. Ah good times! Now parents would sue the bees lol!

Bees; while riding one of my motorcycles I came to a stop at a stop sign right in the middle of a flock of honey bees that I guess were moving their hive. At least I think I came to a stop, as soon as I became aware of the bees I hot tailed it out of there. Still can't believe I did not get one sting. Obviously they were not killer bees.

I have had slave burn through my running shoes before, but that was nothing compared to my blacksmithing burn. I think I was making a cold chisel for something, and I had sat it down on the anvil while I went to the rack to grab some different tongs. Now by the time I got back to the anvil, I forgot I put the piece there, and it had stopped glowing. Anyways, I figured someone else sat it there, so I went to grab it and pitch it in the scrap bin. Needless to say that was a bad burn. Nothing worse than gripping a 600 degree piece of steel, thinking it's cold. Plunged my hand right into the quench tank, and I swear it was steaming. It actually cooked some of my skin.

YOOOWZA! Thats bad man, ive had a few like that! I hate wearing gloves, and minus welding I never have them on, bad practice for working in a iron shop I know. I burn my fingers on a daily basis, dont think theyve been fully healed in years.

Hot chips off a lathe or milling machine manage to find their way down collars too. As for bees, as a kid I worked for a beekeeper moving bees at night. At night, bees don't fly; they crawl. They crawl into the darnedest places...and when they hit skin, they sting. :censored:

Hows this for a bonehead move! During the summer while mowing I had this brainstorm to flip the lid on the fuel tank for the house and check the gauge just too see what my first fill of the season was gonna cost. You already know whats coming right ;) you guessed it, like the movie The Swarm :0 well after about 15 bee stings later and finishing up the mowing I took a shower got half dressed and went outside to sip a beer and try and cool off. While leaning on the railing I got this weird sharp burning sensation followed by three more in the same area on my stomach. Took a second to kick in, but after screaming out WTF! I realized quickly another bee hive under the cap rail! LOL, bad day!
