Maybe because we are talking about daytime running lights here - not necessarily a priority for anyone, at least not for me - except on my 2 wheeler.

In fact, starting in 2003 Chevy made the switch so that you can elect to turn them off if you want - prior to that the owners have no choice but to leave on full time.

I usually check my running lights from the reflection off the rear of the car sitting in front of me. /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

That's the only way I'd ever notice; I'd have to see it reflected in the car in front of me.

I know that my auto insurer gives you a small break on your premium if your vehicle has daytime running lights.

Our 04 Trailblazer has the running lights, you can shut them off, and they are running with a lesser bright bulb.. I just have the habit of checking all my lights at nite when driving, turn signals, brakes, and brights and dims all show up pretty good if you check them while driving down the road.. /forums/images/graemlins/wink.gif JohnJ

FYI The ability to turn off DTR lights has been around for a while longer than 03. I know you could turn them off on 01 and newer by quickly pushing in and out the dome lamp button under the headlamp switch 4 times.

Thanks for the tip. I must have missed that info in the manual for my wife's 02.

Gotta try that at lunch today.

Now I can't wait until noon to see how many TBN'ers there are in the office park where I'm at. When I see all the dome lights flashing on-off-on-off-on-off-on-off................. /forums/images/graemlins/crazy.gif

I wish the nincompoop who lives down the road from me and drives a grey truck had automatic lights. Nothing quite so much fun as having him appear out of the fog without his lights on as I pull out of my drive.

Have you ever noticed... if you see somebody driving in the fog without their light on, they're usually driving a grey vehicle?

I hear that! As far as I knew it was the law in PA (I think NY was the first around here) to have your headlights on when it's raining. Lots of idiots out there today thinking their vehicles stand out on a gray drizzling day without the need for lights /forums/images/graemlins/mad.gif
Maybe GM thought they had the market cornered on idiot proofing this concept, but it never took.

Someone on here, I don't recall who, had in their signature line, something to the effect, "Just when they thought there was idiot proof, they invented a higher grade of idiot".

Truer words were never spoken. /forums/images/graemlins/tongue.gif
