First off....I actually decided to join this thread simply because I want to be a part of the community too!
I think that members coming and going is simply a part of the virtual geography. For many people (certainly in the U.S., and probably elsewhere) there just isn't the time to commit to any one thing. There may be a time that they get a little free time to surf the web, and run into TBN, or as others have said, they have a specific question about buying or repairing their tractor. After that, the external pressures of life force their focus elsewhere. Research has shown that humans can only handle about seven different things, before something has to be pushed out to make room for the next item. I myself have so many things to do with friends, family, farm and work, that I could easily let TBN drop. I have made an actual decision that I want to be a part of the TBN community, and to read and discuss and make comments. Some of the comments might be flippant (or possibly interpereted as rude /forums/images/graemlins/crazy.gif), and some are questions and some are opinions or answers.
I think that for a member to stick around and become active requires that they actually be interested in TBN and the multitude of topics being discussed at any one time, as opposed to simply looking for a quick reference encyclopedia.
