Having tractor hauled.

What is about average charge for having tractor hauled in for warranty work? My tractor has to be hauled in for various leaks and loader dumping slow. They quoted my $2.00 a mile. I live about 25 miles from dealer, that means $200.00 just to haul it in for warranty! Seems high to me! I had another brand hauled in about 3 years ago and it was about half that. It was out of warranty and had major repair. Seems they would cut you a little slack for a tractor still in warranty!

$2. per mile X 25 miles is $50. What am I missing here.

4 trips is 100 miles. Normal is that or 3.50 a loaded mile. 3 years ago it would have been about half. What leaks are you having most can be handled with minimum repair and id be happy to help you figure them out if you want to send me a message.

Usually they only charge for LOADED miles. Return in both instances is figured into the $2 per mile charge so $50 to pick up and $50 to deliver, but verify that with the dealer.

Not sure exactly where it is leaking? I would have to clean the underside and do some investigating. Last couple of weeks I have found coolant after running. Also, seems to have a couple of small oil leaks since new, but I have been waiting for something more serious before getting it fixed. Now with a new leak and the loader hesitating on the dump I thought I would go ahead and get it looked at. I thought of trying to fix it, but it kind of upsets me to have to work on a brand new tractor under warranty! The loader only has a 1 year warranty and I would like to get it looked at incase it is something serious.

If its a hydraulic leak it will be the cause of the hesitation because its sucking air in the lines. Could be even that a fitting backed off from vibration. If you decide to look into it please feel free to send me a message and ill be happy to help.

Thanks Navasot, I went out and crawled under the tractor, but all I could see was drips hanging on the underside. This tractor is so compact I could not even see a fitting I thought might be leaking. The coolant is hanging all under the front end. I can not see any of the lines from under the tractor. I will have to look closer when it is not pouring rain.
The dealer confirmed, it is $2.00 a mile all trips so $200.00! He said, that is basic cost. Must pay their drivers well! Like I said, I had one hauled about 3 years ago and it was half that! Thats some kind of inflation! I may buy me another trailer and start hauling tractors!

Also, found a grease fitting under my tractor that will never get greased! I could hardly see it and I looked from all angles and there is no way to get a grease gun to it! Not sure what it is, it is behind the fuel tank up about half way, could not even get my hand within 10 inches of it!

I'd be contacting friends who own trailers that would haul it for you for less. Maybe they would haul it for an invite to a cookout and some liquid refreshment.

They must have changed it on the new models because I cannot find it on the 3540 so much tractor packed into that size it can be a hassle to work on a few things. As far as the coolent check your overflow and be sure the lines going into it and the cap is secure. Im betting it will be a clamp on one of the coolent lines that needs to be tightened or replaced. These days its much better having a trailer of your own for sure, but the cost for the haul is pretty inline with what I see around here as well.

Yeah, I am kind of under the gun with my loader warranty running out in 3 weeks. Most people I know are like me, only have trailers with 3,500 lb axles under them. These Mahindra's are heavy! Mine with loader and hoe weighs 8,000lb. I could drop the backhoe, but would still have to borrow trailer, because my trailer is extremely heavy and has old tires on it! If I had time I might get tires and drop hoe. But, it would still be over loaded.
