OTHER than going there? /w3tcompact/icons/blush.gif

Seems we are having a wedding party here in several weeks, a luau.

Wifey wants me to find some hawaiian music and some steel drum music.

I've looked on internet and found some (of both).

Anyone have any recommendations as to what might be a good idea having heard it?

I don't mind if it's a studio cd or a "live" cd. My personal preference would be (for the steel drums) to have like 12 drums going rather than an "orchestra" with one or two drums. In other words, I'd much rather it (the cd) be them "cutting loose" and really going for it then a "softer" sound. I do presume there will be some attempts at dancing and/or limbo type stuff. Re-creating desired spl (sound pressure levels) will not be an issue. I'll just be sure to have my Pro-Ears on during party /w3tcompact/icons/grin.gif

Just kinda hate to buy something like that where I have no clue as to what I'm getting.

Speaking of the limbo type stuff..... Why can't I just use my loader bucket as the limbo bar? It's 8 feet wide, has teeth and weighs 1,500 pounds (as I understand it). While they are limbo'ing under the bucket and continue forward...they can keep scooting ahead, go the engine bay and give me an oil change while they're under there? /w3tcompact/icons/wink.gif For the daring, we can tilt the teeth downward to heighten their limbo experience .. /w3tcompact/icons/eyes.gif

Dishnetwork has a Hawaiian music only channel, perhaps you can persuade a neighbor or friend to record for you? Most descamblers have s-video out, or record to vhs tape if you can amp your vcr...

Don't forget to post pics of the limbo, epsecially the ones under the teeth of the fel, ESPECIALLY the one where the bikini got caught on one of the teeth! /w3tcompact/icons/love.gif/w3tcompact/icons/blush.gif/w3tcompact/icons/shocked.gif

Good Luck, sounds like fun!

Richard,

On the few occassions that I've needed to find "unusual" music, I went to a store in our state capital that specializes in old and unusual music. They've never let me down.

I'd bet that there was a similar kind of store in Knoxville. And I wouldn't limit myself to just Hawaiian music. I don't think too many people could tell the difference between Hawaiian, Tahitian, and South Seas island music. I'd use some generic language to describe in my search. You'll probably get a lot more possibilities. You might also talk to someone who does those DJ gigs. Maybe they could give you a tip on how to find different kinds music. I bet they have to do that a lot! /w3tcompact/icons/smile.gif
