That's a little like asking what a car costs. Depends on the quality.

Around here round bales of far quality grass (~1000lbs) go for $15-25.
Small squares (50-60 lbs) go for about $2.
This stuff is mostly fescue/clover or bermuda.
High quality stuff will cost far more.

In a city who knows what people will pay. I have heard of much higher prices 2x + on the east coast for small squares.

Up in East Texas large round bales of coastal geneally sell for $20 to $25. Square bales sell for about $2 but can be a lot higher if it is "horse quality".

It also depends on the weather and how much hay is around. One year I seen big round bales going for 50 and 60 bucks a pop. That is if you could find any.

I can verify that. In Philadelphia we pay about $4 per small square (~60lbs) of good quality hay for horses.

Hi
We pay $1.65/bale of brome and orchard grass hay in the field and we buy about 120 bales every year.
