I built this one for 4x5 round bales after going thru several of the round ring type, which either the cows destroyed, or I did trying to move the cheap pieces of junk.
6x6 oak posts mortised into 6x6 locust runners with a steel "T" plate lag screwed at the joining point. Rest of it is 2x oak. 1.5" square tubing makes up the back (fixed) and the front (hinged to load). Roof keeps the bale dry. They don't waste near as much as the old round rings.
